  • yeah, I screwed up, they don't have Mississauga on their list a city of about 700,000 people, so I put Mississauga Beach and that was wrong, so yeah whoever admins this thing can remove the wrong one -NOFXfan
  • Same here -- they don't have New Westminster on their list either so I'm in Vancouver as far as they are concerned... -chazz
  • Alright it found St. John's, I'm on the map *JOY* -StylinTechie
  • oh I guess zipcodes don't work for you non americans. ;) -drachen
  • I tried but it won't recognize any of the cities I am close to and I refuse to put myself in Toronto -frprinterwiz
  • Javascript errors in some browsers prevent showing the map or the list of memebrs. -concept14
  • Am I the only one who added a real photo? -wolfprince
  • i was gonna put up a proper pic of me but i realised i hate my face so decided against it!! -starfishmagnet
  • At first I thought the site was Fappr... but that would not be work-friendly, would it? -Mushroom
  • your thinking fwappr ;P -drachen
  • That's a piece of crap - it doesn't recognise Gromit's Retreat. Bollocks to it, I'll stay anonymous. -Gromit
  • Hm - you con't remove a wrong pin, or correct it. Beta indeed.... <giggle> -Darkstar2
  • The funny thing is, it is almost on my house, just about 1cm to the right -macbeth
  • oh duh .... what a dick... - natch I meant "1 cm " on the max zoom we could get -macbeth
  • macbeth you live in a forest? -NOFXfan

  • SS thinks: "Oooh! Someone who lives in the same town as... oh wait. That's me." -smellystudent
  • Fun. Chose a place in the city a few blocks from my actual area. -namor
  • My pin showed up about 20 blocks northwest of where I live in the city, but still in the general downtown area. Where I work is only slightly closer. (I have a very easy commute. I walk about 12 minutes up a hill in the morning, and about 9 down the hill in the afternoon. - Gravity works!0 -teivrann
  • im sitting in splendid isolation down under;) -timelady
  • Hawk should replace the "TSC is a global community" -page (on the left of main page) with this one! -NordicPT
  • STJ's on the map.. the only one from Omaha -STJ
  • Damn, there's a shitload of us around the Lakes. -Wolfie0827
  • Duly noted & added myself to the merry throng. Hi, y'all! -lineswine
  • I read that as 'merry thong' and thought - Santa's been a *bad* boy this year... -namor
  • well balls, I'm the only one in the maritimes on there so far -halitech
  • Duly added. -CommanderData
  • I also refuse to put myself in Toronto! Of course, I live in Oklahoma, so... -missourimule
  • Duly added. -purplelinguist
  • This ruins any chance of playing hide & seek... ;) -Wonko The Sane
  • What would be even COOLER than just making the "TSC is a global community" link point to this page would be making the little pointers for all the hugeass members into stars! *shakes freshly minted booty* -LoTech
  • It's got my pin about 5 miles from where I actually am...in a MUCH more expensive part of town. I wish I lived on the lake! (I'm the only one in Maine) -PaseoGuy
  • Duly added, for what it's worth. Who else noticed that 'Comedy' was misspelled? -Frazzled
  • The official story we picked about the misspelt group name, is that 'its an unofficial site'. The unofficial story is Drachen just cant spell worth a damn -evolvedstarfish
  • esf. I just noticed that. Ohh, and added myself -deskmonkey
  • OMG I can't believe I misspelled comedy.... -drachen
  • Added myself and looked at map. hmmm i dont remember seeing that big red thing right by my house. thats gotta be 50 stories high! -lacentrix
  • I'd be very surpised if the Canadian Capital wasn't found. but done. -Harm
  • Canada has a capital? I thought it was all just Deer, Wolves and snow. -Wolfie0827
  • Is this link still valid? I clicked on it to add myself, and got "Group 'techsupportcommedy' not found" -- how can I add myself to a non-existant group? -Captain Trips
  • Captain T., They've respelled it correctly, so now the link doesn't work. Just edit out the extra "M". -rurwin
  • My pin is only about 5 blocks from where I live. Not too bad. -sassicatz
  • just looked at the street level and it has me living in the bloody Halifax harbour almost on the dartmouth side. sory but I refuse to live in the harbour if the fish can't live there -halitech

  • Added! Wahoo! Only two in the Atlanta area? hmmmmmmmm....... -john11v35
  • I'm added, I shall infect you all!!! -virusjtg
  • Hey, I got moved down to Harbourfront! Yay, what a nice neighbourhood. Much better than poor NOFXFan who got stuck over in crack city around Sherbourne and Dundas. -Mysty
  • It found Chisholm, MN, a town of 5k souls -HappyCrappy
  • No you're no, crystalmare! -slowANDeasy
  • YAY!!! The frappr team fixed my screwup: new link http://www.frappr.com/techsupportcomedy -drachen
  • I just zoomed in on my flag, its only off by a block :) -evolvedstarfish
  • Okay, I'm on there -- but it shows my pointer at the center of my zip code -- which is about 2 miles sw of my home. Oh, well, nothing's perfect. -Captain Trips
  • Yes: As do most onlime maps, you town center is the post office represnted by the ZIP code. My post office moved thirty years ago, but every online map still shows it at the old location. -LaserGuru
  • Heh, It put me about a mile south of my house. Not bad, really! :) -rokitt
  • This is strange, my marker keeps disapearing, or falling into the north atlantic -StylinTechie

  • Yes, but the BLOG!! I mean, in one of today's entries he makes a reference to sending a tinfoil hat to one of the conservatives. It's beautiful!!! -mousie
  • Wow. Sending this one around, thanks for the link! I suspect that the target audience (for this *must* have some spin) is just the sort of young technocrats they'd find here, too... -namor

  • a teacher of mine suggested a ballot option "nobody" in which case if nobody wins, the current official is thrown out and anyone who ran in that election is no longer eligible for the office. i like it. -rhiannon
  • arg - And once again i will vote- and once again my prty will not be elected. Given how bad the liberals are screwing up - I'm tempted to vote BLoc! -Harm
  • Alas, Bloc doesn't deign to run anywhere outside of Quebec. I'm almost tempted to start a branch of the Cape Breton Liberation Front here in BC. Our election platform would be that we would cut Vancouver Island free of the mainland and float it down to Mexico for the winter... but leave Victoria and all the provincial politicians behind. -chazz
  • I hate these elections... in my area the choice is either vote liberal (Martin) to get our MP back in (who actually does a good job, and cares about the people) or vote for some other idiot who doesn't even live in the region and doesn't talk with the people, in order to get someone else into the head office (who will probably be just as corrupt, but hide it better...). I think Douglass adams hit the nail on the head. Anyone capible of getting elected isn't capible of doing the job! -garwain
  • I'd vote for the marijuana party, especially if it helps keep the DEA from extraditing its leader... which they are trying to do -teivrann
  • Nobody actually votes for the Marijuana Party, they get halfway to the voting booth and stop for pizza. -avantgarde
  • Marc Emery is my hero. I'd vote for him -DrLecter
  • I've voted for the mary jane party! i almost did... i ate the balott - and used the next one to roll. -Harm
  • "Anyone who can misplace a few billion dollars..." So voting for someone who would run up a few hundred billion in debt would be better? Yes, the Liberals acted like crooks while in office, but their total scandal count in over a decade was equal to Mulroney's scandal count in a month. So sure, let's get rid of the party that gave Canada the strongest economy it's had in years, and replace it with a fundamentalist whacko who will invoke notwithstanding clauses every time the Charter of Rights interferes with his religious beliefs, and reverse a ten-year pattern of consistent budget surpluses. -Gaah
  • I wasn't aware Mulroney was running again. And let's not forget, the money to reduce the deficit came from cutting back on funding for health care, for education, for the military, and elsewhere, while raising taxes to the highest levels of any country in the G8. Harper only stated his honest opinion that he would leave it to Parliament to decide on the issue which the Liberals used as a distraction to AdScam, and since there's no way the Conservatives will get a majority this election, that change won't even happen. Btw, this sort of debate would probably be better in the break room. -HidariMak
  • Gaah - I've always wondered: What's it like to be a sheep who does as the CBC tells him? -Snakeeye

  • Gotta love the big mega-corps! The rules apply to everyone but them. One more reason I don't buy sony products. -Starfury
  • This whole mess sounds like the makings of a reality TV show. You can bet there's more than a little 'voting off the island' going on in Sony right now. Maybe Sony should be looking at buying a guillotine, for the record number of heads that will probably roll over this... -teivrann
  • I wonder if Sony will end up being the whole world's beyotch because of this fiasco.... -Grue
  • Just think, Sony is making people go through all this trouble to hear their Celine Dion CDs. Btw, Sony's EULA is equally amusing. http://www.eff.org/deeplinks/archives/004145.php -HidariMak
  • That is rich. Maybe the whole DRM/RIAA/lawsuit BS will crawl into a hole and die. Maybe the RIAA will just die... that would be better still. -Torinir

  • The most horrendous thing is that this is a Japanese company and the loss of face for the company in the public's eye is going to be taken harder than any American company would. A *lot* of people will be out of a job and permanently. -suitepotato
  • In the 1980's (ah, the days of yore!)I read in Mad Magazine: "Sing a song of Sonys, a pocket full of yen. Magnavox and Venith undersold again. See the U.S. suffer at the work we do. This is how we get revenge for losing World War Two." -Voltage
  • Everyone is saying Sony, but wasn't it "First 4 Internet" that coded this pile of crap? N.B. I'm not buying Sony/BMG goods, either...fark 'em. That EULA (cheers, HidariMak!) sucks royally. -lineswine
  • Sony used to be a good company that sold high-quality products. Then Akio Morita passed away. After that, things went to shit. Same story at RCA, Zenith, et al.... -vacuumtubes
  • Having just read the EULA I'm joining the FSL (F*ck Sony League). They're 'avin' a laugh. -Gromit
  • Latest news: seems that the way Sony set up the rootkit left a huge hole: basically, any web page you visit can download, install, and run any software it wants to on your computer. While the ability is First 4's, the configuration is Sony's. And of course it was Sony who chose to make installing a rootkit a _requirement_ for listening to their music on a PC. And it was Sony who wrote the EULA that didn't mention that a rootkit was being installed, and who failed to provide the option to remove it until forced by public outcry. So I have to conclude that this whole mess is Sony's fault. -chazz
  • I'm not sure it's what Chazz was talking about, but the removal program Sony put out to remove their rootkit installs an ActiveX tool that makes your computer even more vulnerable. Can you say "Stepped on their wang again?" -CyBear

  • Funny... I have a Sony Radio from the 50s.. and it doesn't stop me from leaving the house while listening to it. In fact, it's portable. It doesn't even try to make me sick, so I can't go out and enjoy the music with others... I guess you can see where I'm going with this comparison. -renaultguy

Meanwhile, most others in the music industry are likely grinding their teeth and popping aspirin by the thousands. -HidariMak

  • I've been complaining about program bloat, user interface and rinky dink programs for about 15 years, but does anyone listen to me? -Gerund
  • It's ok, Gerund. No one listens to Dvorak either. -CarbonTetra
  • Dvorak's article, like 99.9% of everything he writes, isn't worth reading. Summation: software should work the way any given user thinks it should and not the way it was written. Unfortunately for Dvorak and everyone else taking too many drugs, software is concretely bound to reality and not malleably subjective. -suitepotato
  • For the mumble-mumble years that I have been reading Dvorak's articles, I have seldom, if ever, seen when he is right about anything. However, he, like most "Tech" "journalists" (ha! ha! - sorry I always break up when I say that) are good for a laugh now and then. Much of the problem is that these so called programmers can't write a program without using libraries that are sooo over bloated they affect the eventual size, outcome, speed and security of the programs they are working on. -ecoli

  • Personally, I had to weep silently for a few minutes when I found out Macromedia had been bought by Adobe. M/M Freehand vs. Adobe Illustrator? No contest, Freehand is infinitely more intuitive, even for total noobs. While FlashMX is a pretty powerful app (and I'm hardly the King of Actionscript) I still was able to teach myself how to design and code in Flash. Photoshop, on the other hand, gets used strictly for web-optimizing images; I've tried to get 'creative' in PS, and always end up flushing the file and starting over using my trusty copy of MS Image Composer 1.5. I shudder to think how badly Adobe will fuck up Flash's menu system and tools. -MeanDean

  • So I could basicaly paraphrase this whole article into, "Customers do not like anything that means they can't be rude and will not get their way." However, I do agree there ARE rude salespeople out there. Instead of stating "I'm new here," then walking away, telling the customer, "I'm new here, but let me find you someone more experienced that will know the answer to your question," will get you a better response. It's all in phrasing. However, most customers hear what they want to anyways. -TechieSidhe

  • If you are on break do not wear your name tag and walk around the store you work in. If that is policy state the policy. If you do not know an answer admit it and gently guide the customer to someone who can help them. Being new should have no impact on your ability to find an answer through a co-worker or otherwise. "The computer is down" is not an excuse for your ignorance of using the cash register. Lastly, sometihng that is outside of your department does not mean you get out of talking to the customer. Yes I am a tech working in customer service but sh!t like that pisses me off both on and off the job. -wwonka

  • Know that noise you make when you snicker, but its a little meaner and a little mocking, but still oddly cute? The whole noise is sort of made by puffing air through your nose while making a sound in your throat, and stopping the flow of air suddenly. That's a snerk. Like a snicker, but briefer, and more confusing to people. And also really gross to describe. -Parilla

  • http://www1.us.dell.com/content/default.aspx?c=us&cs=28&l=en&s=dfb Note: Sometimes they have specials where even these are discounted by $150 or sometimese significantly more. -TechMama
  • I don't really trust Dhell. They advertise a "great value" system for $500. But when you read the specs, it's a Celeron 1Ghz, it doesn't include even a CD Rom (of course, no monitor), and when you add the shipping and handling charges you end up paying more than for a good HP. Sort of bait advertising. Just MHO. -TheGhost
  • A "good" HP? Seriously, for $500 you can put together a pretty nice non-tech machine from Dell. -Divinar
  • Divinar, that's what I mean. When you read the "bait" specs you see it's a piece of junk. By the time you improve it to usable, you end up paying $1200 or so. You can get a decent HP for that, or build your own custom made Ferrari. So, why bother customizing a dhell? -TheGhost
  • I support (l)users - that $500 Dell would be better than half the machines in this office. And I'll not send another penny to HP/Compaq. I am hoping t -Divinar
  • Former employer would have pissed themselves for those Dells - they were still slaving along on Goatway 2000s in the sub-600MHz range, and THAT was in the office areas. On the production floor - I'd tell ya, but don't want to make anyone cry... -PTSTech
  • I'm betting that those fell of off a truck someplace - Brown maybe, or Fedhex... "new" but with no warrenty, right ? I've seen enough of our laptops\desktops fail to arrive or arrive as empty boxes, there's always somebody in the shipping biz with sticky fingers. -redpaulhus
  • Sorry - didn't realize I left a sentance unfinished - I am hoping to buy two $2K Dell's in the near future - 3+GHz P4, 4+ GB RAM, SATA drive, Dual Layer DVD+-, no monitor. -Divinar
  • yeah price is good if you just want an office machine, but not for kids or home use. notice they are the intel extreme(ly slow) intergrated gfx models. but anyway, they *must* have been lifted for them prices -Jax
  • I've looked into those systems before. They are 15 dollar main boards with pretty much everything built as cheap as possible. The CPU is usually the thing they push as being something. No warranty on anything inside except the one warranty offered (if it even is) on the system. The parts that aren't actually new are refurbished parts it the whole system isn't actually a refurb. -MaskedMarauder
  • I'm guessing that the $300 units are either fell-off-the-back-of-a-truck or refurbs. You get a computer that cheap, selling to the banjo-players (sorry, SGT), you're going to get a lot of "never got it to work" returns of non-defective hardware... which you can't legally sell as new. Hence the lower price and the useless warranty. -chazz
  • Odds are that the Dells are going to end of life machines very soon and Dell has a glut of them. I'd also bet that the dealer doesn't actually have the systems in had before selling them hence the requiremnet for immediate payment. The seller gets the winning bid and buys one from Dell on a corporate account or something then ships it to you. The warranty will actually be valid from Dell at that point. If the seller can't get it as cheap as the winning bid, he backs out or delays until he can. Eventually he'll offer a substituted system from Dell at the same cost. -killminus9

  • My sister in law left her kitten with us once while she was out of town. We already have 2 male cats, and this was a 3rd male now... it wasn't pretty. I seriously got clawed all the way up one arm, and the cat shit all over the friggin WALL when I got it by the scruff of the neck. Back legs came OVER HIS HEAD to get my hand! I ended up having to fling it in to the garage, ripping flesh off my hand in the process. So yeah, I have no doubt about what this cat was like. -EagleEye
  • sounds like a cat on PCP. I have no fear of dogs- generally you know damned well when a dog is pissed or gonna snap. Cats though. between a dog attacking me and a cat- i'd put cash on the cat being more viciouse and doing more damage. -Harm

  • Utter nonsense, this. We're not going to disassemble people and record their quantum, electrical, magnetic, chemical, etc, states and rebuild them elsewhere. Something along the lines of wormholes would be more likely, creating point to point gateways... -suitepotato
  • Potato: Something like a Stargate? *grin* -halfstarfish
  • Oh, I don't know... read Roger Penrose's newest theory on quantum gravity. Apparently traditional practice is to factor out gravity on the quantum level, acting like it's not there. Penrose suggests that infinitesimally small is not nonexistent (what a concept), and states that it's actually the gravitational field of larger objects that prevents them from occupying multiple places at the same time like subatomic particles often do. You never know if we might break that barrier too, teleporting larger objects... -teivrann
  • I do have 2 concerns regarding human teleportation. The first one is, how do we know that simply making an exact copy of the person at the subatomic level is sufficient to duplicate the person, as in, will the transported matter be alive? But that's a moot point, if they aren't alive at the other side, we'll know very soon. The bigger issue is, if they are alive, how will this technology NOT be used to duplicate people? Sure, it was impossible in Star Trek but everyone in IT knows that it's safer to copy/paste then delete the original than it is to move, and what could be more important than the data making up a person? Someone back me up on a floppy at least :-D -OgdenTechGuy
  • So if we get this going, and I'm being transported from my couch to the fridge, what if there is an interrupt, and part of the data is lost, or corrupted? Could I come out on the other side missing something? -jard
  • jard: Yep. Data corruption could cause you to lose body parts or have them... altered. (Star Trek: The Motion Picture) Me, I'll stick with my Mark 1 Shank's Mare. -chazz

Ramsdon Merganderpoke (spokesman for the Ministry) stated that haddock may only be carried if their extremities are adequately wrapped in foam rubber to reduce their effectiveness as a weapon. The public are reminded to remove the padding before cooking the haddock as this this can have a rather detrimental effect on the taste. More at 11.... -Gromit

  • I think you guys are REALLY overreacting to this. No administration would shut down web sites for saying stuff they don't like. The outraged backlash would be epic. You have to concede that the US MILITARY started the Internet, and that the Internet got its start because of the US Government and US Tax payer dollars... Basically, it's managed just fine and grown to what it is now under the "oppressive" US government's control of the root servers... You should be praising the US for its policy on freedom, rather than being all worried we're gonna have a 1984 on our hands. -EagleEye

  • "There is no correct politics, its just liars and lunatics" type thing EE ? -NightRain
  • I would like to point out that it was the US military and US academia that bootstrapped what is today known at the Internet. If the US government had not poured the billions of dollars into DARPAnet, I'm sure we'd still be alive, but I doubt we'd be chatting like we are now. The internet would eventually have evolved to what it is now, but the evolution of the network would have been delayed, plus the cost structure would probably have been born more heavily by the end user. Look at the cell phone system, which by and large did not have massive government subsidies. It took longer for that industry to develop the technologies needed to market their products at prices needed to be able attract large number of non-business customers. Before you assume that I like the idea of government subsidising technology, keep in mind that the US government developed the internet, and we have massive problems with spam, DDOS attacks etc., while with the cell phone network, while there was briefly a problem with phone cloning and eavesdropping, it is largely a reletively secure network now. -mdver
  • mdver, the cell network requires at least financial accounatbility at each end, and is really only a few networks combined (each wireless provider is connected with the POTS and each other) the internet is millions upon millions of machines which can be hooked up and in theory immediately interact with any other node. saying the cell network is more secure is like saying the power grid is more secure because nobody hacked your toaster. -Lehk
  • I'm moving to Canada...What's this all aboot, eh? (Taxi! Canadian proof lart shelter!) -Darth
  • It ain't the fact that the Internet was started under Cold war conditions, it is the fact that the Internet & WWW is now Global. The fact that the concept was yours doesn't mean you can "take it back" once it is in the public domain. If this was so, the Chinese would take back gunpowder & where would America be without its' beloved firearms? Nowhere, becuase the indiginous population would have kicked your ass back into the Atlantoic ocean. The UK wouldn't have taken the religious loonies (Puritans) back, so you'd have ended up is someplace less hospitable...Africa for example. Hey look! We'd be running Live8 for YOU! As for Shrub shutting down websites he doesn't like (free speech, pro-choice, non-fundametalist sites, nooo, he wouldn't do that, but simply fucking-up the DNS records for the sites...yep I think he'd do that in a heartbeat "for National Security". -lineswine
  • while arpa net etc where indeed US inventions, the www as we know it today was not invented in the US but in europe by Tim Berners-Lee. -Kharny
  • You know, I've seen stuff like this in books. It won't be long before we're all wearing the same clothes, are taught to hate jews, and all have to listen to the same music. I guess I might as well brush up on my German while I'm at it. -murdermachine
  • Never give a job to a government that cannot be done by a retarded, but heavily muscled giant. The value of a law is not how well it works when enforced by the powers of good, but how well it is protected from abuse by the powers of evil. -Taurus
  • Would you lot just calm the heck down and think for two seconds? First, the article is a slanted piece of political demagoguery and you need not be a conservative to see that. Second, it glosses over in its propagandistic tone and content that the US is merely *keeping* what DNS root server control it *ALREADY HAS* instead of handing it over to ICANN and company. Why? Well with what has been shown repeatedly of various other nations' willingness to play politics over security, and that the US doesn't know certainly enough that others can or even will try hard enough to prevent criminal and terrorist disruption, why take that risk? No one is censoring anyone. Control simply remains where it *already is* and *has been* for a long time. It's simply a matter of the US not feeling they can or should risk the transfer given recent historical and political events. Such as supposed allies getting caught with their hands in the oil-for-food corruption cookie jar, cyber crime and terrorism, etc. Unless and until the world community stops playing games on international crime and terrorism and the UN starts acting like responsible grown-ups instead of rowdy brats looking to raid the pantry and vandalize themselves at every step, why take that risk? Business as usual for now is fine with me and business as usual is what this is. You may go back to fragging the fark out of your friends netside and perusing /. as there's nothing going on here. -suitepotato
  • Wow, ya'all fiesty. <Dons his 'fuckit' cloak and '+10 armour of doublefuckit'> -burrkiss
  • Humm, yeah upon further review, I think suitepotato and EE summed that up pretty well. Night, go ask why no one has written articles about the US having control of these servers until they announce that they're going to keep it. Funny it never bothered anyone before that. And on the note shutting down sites, it would make far more sense to go shut down some terrorist's site then for themt to bother someone's "I hate Dubya" site. If I was going to pick a US pres that would do that, the name Hoover would come to mind first...and probably Clinton second (afterall both seemed to consider the FBI a good way to keep tabs on people they didn't like). -redevil34
  • Yep - let's get rid of all the dissidents & malcontents, let 'em start their own state if they don't like it here. Oh, hang on....it's the 4th of July, isn't it? • Did I read that right that she had already had 1 kid? On the other hand, there is a woman where I work that's at about 8 months, and still has a body most of us would kill for! But she's not stupid... -garwain
  • This girl has been prego before, she should have known somthing was different. Another note, what the hell was she wearing that she could just lean over and have an eight lb kid fall out into the lawn? -jard
  • Jard: Some kind of skirt with no underwear? *runs like hell* -halfstarfish
  • ....(as) the two women and the newborn baby boy drove to the hospital. "She told me to slow down because the baby's not in a car seat." - Ok folks.. let's start talking PRIORITIES! (So her first kid was at 15/16, huh? Niiiice.) -ShujinTribble
  • "She knew how to turn the baby's shoulder... she was a natural." Practice, practice, practice. You'd think she'd have caught on HOW one gets in those situations by now. Cocksocket. -Mushroom
  • I didnt know she could get pregnant from swallowing. -burrkiss

  • East Texas....College Student...hell, the only thing missing is actually coming out and saying she was already overweight. Although I guess "I thought she was liking her pizza more" is kind of a hint... -GargoyleTS
  • the funniest thing is, she's a student at a texas technical institute. futher proof that those schools will take anyone who has the cash.....(on a dark note. I wonder if they'll find the body of a woman who's baby was cut out. maybe that's how she got the first 3 too. WAY too much Law and order special victems unit I guess.) -drachen
  • When I used to print T-shirts I once asked one of the girls working there if she was worried the chemicals we used would harm her unborn. Her response was, well, kind of loud at me..."I'M NOT PREGNANT! I'M JUST FAT!!".... Needless to say, I stayed clear of her the rest of the week.... -imawreque
  • You know, I can understand how others wouldn't know she was pregnant. My oldest Godchild was born a month after I saw his mom and her stomach was flat as a fritter...but how could SHE not know? I'm no expert, but I have had 2 kids and there are certain signs our body gives us that lets us know there is something going on. I wonder if she knew how her first one got there. -persephone
  • Yeah, it seems pretty hard to believe that she didn't know she was even pregnant -- EXCEPT -- the same sort of thing happened to someone I knew years ago. One day, she went to her mother: "Mom, I need to make an appointment at the women's clinic. I think I'm pregnant." They were around 20 minutes late to the appointment, so the clinic cancelled it. (They were a clinic that also did abortions, so would cancel late arrivals like that as a security measure.) She rescheduled for a week later, but ended up cancelling that appointment herself -- after she gave birth to a full-term baby! Imagine -- 8.5 months not realizing she was pregnant. Easier to imagine, though, if you knew how heavy a tweaker (user of crystal methylamphetamine) she was -- she was so tweaked out that she didn't realize she was pregnant. Oh, and she was a "big" girl to begin with. (Beautiful woman, she was, just built heavier than the "fashion model" standard.) So, from my own knowledge, it can happen! -Captain Trips
  • This sort of thing happened to me. I was 24 and I'd had my daughter less than a year before. She was born in the middle of September 1978 and in the June of 1979 I was lying in the bath when I realised that my stomach was moving its own accord. My son was born on his sister's first birthday and they reckoned he was about a month late which would mean I was 7 months before I realised. I thought it was just taking time for me to get back into shape after my previous pregnancy. I had a bad time then and had been told I would never be able to have any more kids. (Had to prove them wrong...). -Nazreel
  • I'm not a woman so I don't know, but isn't a lack of menstrual cycle for 8 months a hint? -NOFXfan
  • It is rare but some women do continue to menstruate when pregnant. But how they do not feel that 8-pound kid kicking them is beyond me! I felt as if my kids would kick the person next to me! -AllStationary
  • I find this really hard to believe. Just barely possible, perhaps, but really hard to believe. -sassicatz
  • Maybe the banjo between her knees saved the baby from hitting the trailer floor. -lineswine
  • What I want to know about is how she left the baby in the yard. The umbilical cord doesn't just detach as far as I know. At the least mine had to be cut. The cord isn't that long either. Too many things very wrong about this story. -MrsTechnoVamp
  • "It was one big push for the baby and a little one for the placenta," - the cord is attached to the placenta, and she just chewed it off. ;) at least that is how I figure it. -jard
  • One of the things several of my wife's friends have noted is that increaed weight usually leads to decreased number of periods. One of her bigger friends counts herself lucky to have two a year, but they last a week. On the other hand, she might be on that implated birth control. Apparently it stops a period from starting in the first place. If there are other signs, I don't know about them. -Chipsterian
  • "implated" shoud read "implanted" -Chipsterian
  • On technovampires comment on how she left the baby in the yard. "The umbilical cord doesn't just detach as far as I know.", I think the umbilical cord is attached to the placenta, and after she delivered the placenta she would have been no longer attached. I remember the doctor tugging on the cord to help deliver the placenta, freakin gross I know. -Hawk
  • WTF?!?! There should have been some point where she had to have known somethign was up! I didn't start showing or i guess "feeling" pregnant until i was about 6 or 7 months along, but by my 7.5 8 month mark, I had a belly. now, I also know that the Depo shots, can cause your period to go away for months at a time and too much excersize, stuff like that, but there are so many other things that should have given it away!! -TeChMoMmY
  • Who says Brits are mad? - Not sure exactly where this took place, but i wish i had known about it, would have loved to have attended. LS you know anything about this?

  • I have to admit that this does sound like a good idea, somewhat... though you can just bet there will be a black market in GPS scramblers. Interesting thing about taxes: people change behaviour to avoid them. For instance: When they introduced GST in Canada, it replaced the FST, and was widely trumpeted as being "revenue-neutral". Well, fast-forward five years and guess what? It was revenue neutral. So many people were going underground / cash basis / no documents, that the GST was bringing in about the same amount as the FST had done before. And the government seemed so shocked by this revelation... And speed radar cameras? When they brought that program in, they said they weren't looking at it as a cash cow; they were going to be putting the vans at known trouble spots, to slow the cars down. Well, guess what? People slowed down... and the vans weren't paying for themselves. So they started putting them in places where they had said they wouldn't -- bottoms of hills and the like, and with the flash facing back so it went right into the drivers' eyes -- and the government fell, in part because the opposition promised to yank the speed camera vans. And did. -chazz
  • Of course, on reflection, this sounds even more like a bad idea. If they know what roads you're driving on, so they can tax you, then they know where you are. And this is a _massive_ invasion of privacy. Or, more precisely, it could be if the records are used for anything other than taxes... and you can just bet they will be. Welcome to Landing Strip One, Big Brother is watching you! Hey -- new product. "GPS Deceiver" -- overpowers the GPS receiver with the correct signals to make it appear that you are somewhere else... -chazz
  • Gee, officer, I didn't drive that car much - It sat in the driveway almost every day, while I took public transit. Just check the GPS log... Pay no attention to the pile of electronic equipment in the garage... -Divinar
  • I'm presuming you'd be presented with a tax bill that is meant to be an accurate representation of all your driving on each roadway, which means they would theoretically know where you were at all times. And, if someone borrows your car, wouldn't you need to collect the tax for their trip or be forced to pay for miles you didn't drive? And would old, non-equiped cars become illegal or would there be a booming business in selling untrackable vehicles? And if a borrowed car were involved in an accident or used for a bank robbery, do you get arrested? Will there be penalties for vehicles with malfunctioning trackers? If you did park your vehicle for a couple of weeks while you vacation, do you get a call asking what you're up to? -Tekkie
  • I don't have to worry, I bike everywhere, When they tax that it's time to killem all! -Wolfie0827
  • If they took it one step further, they could replace the speed cameras... if they know what road you are on, and how far you travelled, all they have to do is work out how long it took you to travel that distance, and bam! instant speeding ticket..... -Shaede
  • The worries me greatly. I read a piece on the proposed scale of charges - the lightest road user would be about £50 per year better off, but the heaviest users would be about £4000 worse! If it was to replace the extortionate fuel tax that would be one thing, but I do not believe that will happen. I wish politicians would get the idea that it is stupid to tax people off the road *before* providing a viable alternative! I have no choice but to drive around, there are no buses going to my office, and none going anywhere near half of my clients. This is the same stupidity that encourages developers to allow 4 parking spaces per 20-person office to 'encourage public transport', but doesn't provide a sodding bus route! -smellystudent
  • They really want to kibollux their economy, don't they? Who's going to drive when they get dinged everytime they press the accelerator? -vacuumtubes

  • "They gets stiff, but it only lasts a few seconds." - is it just me or does the goat expert sound bitter? -Harm
  • As I have said everywhere else that has shown this, THIS is a prime example of how FUCKED UP our species is. We are laughing over animals suffering from a disease, do you realize that? Those goats are suffering from a brain anomaly not unlike epilepsy, and people are paying MONEY to watch them get scared over and over. Did you notice the part about it not happening when they're just left alone with each other? WAKE UP! That means YOU are doing something they don't like! WHERE is the ASPCA in this? -Calydor
  • Calydor... This is no different than going to a circus to see people swallow swords or pound nails into their noses. It's a genetic anomaly, not a disease. It's like tourettes... Not a disease, just an anomaly. -exzyle2k
  • In the circus, those people have CHOSEN to do this. These goats are not given that choice, and I stand by my statement: This is animal cruelty. -Calydor
  • I copied this to the Break Room for discussion. -Tekkie

  • Help fund mammograms - After my reply to ST mentioning this site, a starless member WB'd me asking if I could post it more prominently. I'd been thinking of doing that anyway. The Breast Cancer site is having trouble getting enough people to click on their site daily to meet their quota of donating at least one free mammogram a day to an underprivileged woman. It takes less than a minute to go to their site and click on the pink button in the middle labeled "Fund Free Mammograms." I do this every day from both home and work PCs. Anyone with any orientation can find something to suit them In Amsterdam. • They shoul've just used a taser on the kid. Having a 5 and 7 yr old I think about that sometimes...or "Chilrens Chewable Valium" -Starfury
  • If that had been my kid (not that I have any), I would be glad that the police followed through. Let the kid know that getting the police called on them is serious stuff. Thing is, if our society didn't have such an anti corporeal punishment bent, the teacher could have 'resolved' the situation without calling the police. -ThreeBucks
  • Ah.. that's going to far.. that's like saying that a dog should be put down for pooping on your front lawn and the owner didn't scoop it. The mother shouldn't win the lawsuit, but those "officers" need some serious training on how to deal with kids. Course if it was my kid I'd probably be wanting them fired.. -spectreoflife
  • I saw several minutes of the video this morning. Child was Way Out of control. A two or three year old might act like that but five year old, no way. I have four children, age 32,30,17,and 13. The 13 year old acted just like that when he was three but we got him to behave before we sent him to kindergarten. -volmtech
  • Fuck these spoiled-brat kids. They just grow up to be spoiled-brat juvenile delinquents. The few that survive into adulthood without going to prison become my fucking customers. Maybe killing off the bottom 10% of each class would adjust their attitudes. As for this girl, she assaulted a teacher. Repeatedly. Fuck her. I'll tell you this much: the first little shit that lays a hand on Magenta like that won't live to see the next school day. Fucking punks. Kill 'em all and let the deity of your choice sort 'em out. -RiffRaff
  • If the kid swung at a teacher, then the only thing a teacher can do IS call the cops. The teacher/principal cannot even defend themselves without raising the 'you hit my kid' objection. I have seen 14 year old kids that outweighed, & out muscled, their teachers and if they were bullys, then I would TOTALLY SUPPORT a teacher having to go so far as to taser a student out fo self-defence. The video...ah the video..that kid was doing the "I Don' Wanna Do It" Squirm when she was handled and arrested. <continued> -Psudo
  • To conclude: I am with RiffRaff on this. Well, mebby a little less 'rabid' and a litle more rational. If the kid is hitting, cussing and generally being a pain in the ass, (and ignoring the 'time out rules...yeah right..time out: another rant, another time.) And our teachers are - BY LAW - not allowed to give them a good smack on the ass, then the cops are the only thing left. And the cops are only trained one way to cuff idiots. In the video I thought they were nice...no mace/papper spray. -Psudo
  • Kids should not touch teachers. Teachers should not touch kids. Whoever breaks this commandment loses the right to go home at the end of the day without bruises. Did the mother expect them to let her kid thrash around for an hour before she got there? -chefque
  • teachers should be allowed to carry cattle prods for uncontrolable kids. unfortuneatly corperal punishment in school has gon the way of the dodo and theres alot of litte pieces of shit that need it. and fuck the mom and the bleeding hearts who wanna whine about cuffing this little bitch. if i had pulled that shit my mom would have thanked the cops for cuffing me ,would have made it easier for her to beat my ass. -GefahrMaus
  • Last time i looked assault was a criminal offence, therefore the law has been broken and the kid is a criminial albeit a junior, but still a criminal. If the kid is lashing out then the cops should handcuff the little shite. Just cause "IT" calmed down doesn't mean it won't go off on one again. If someone pulls a gun on you, you don't have to wait for them to shoot you or the police before you disarm them, whilst fists don't do the same damage, why should it be any different. Kid broke law, kid is criminal, kid should be restrained by any means necessary. QED. -Armakuni
  • After watching it again, all i can say is hardline but fair. -Armakuni
  • spectreoflife - One thing to say to that, a law enforcement officer is trained to handle situations in a certain way. I don't care how old the person is - if they're acting like that, they get cuffed; if they're going in my car they get cuffed (and searched)...basically once you assault someone else, you get cuffed - because I'm not going to be responsible for not restraining you and have you go off and assault someone again. You can go the easy way and let me do it or you can fight me and it probably will hurt in some way shape or form....been there, done that. My LIFE/WELL-BEING and the LIVES/WELL-BEING of others have priority over someone's displeasure with being cuffed - bottom line, if you don't like/want to be put in cuffs, don't do something to get yourself there. -redevil34
  • My kid is 2 1/2 now. If he pulls that kind of stuff when he hits Kindergarten, if the cops don't handle him, believe me, I WOULD!!! -TheSingingTech
  • wtf...that kid wasnt out of control. hell my little brother (6 years old now) is worse than that some times and i WISH a cop would handcuff the little shit some times. scare the damn kids straight and make an example out of the first one. -xtc46
  • Dunno about the rest of you, but if I had to be disciplined at school, I caught the real punishment when I got home. This sounds like a 'mommy with a child as a fashion accessory' type. -CTYankee
  • I just watched the video clip and I feel so sad that it had to come to this. I work in what Americans call pre school and us in England call nursery we have chilren of 3 and 4 having tantrums a lot worse than this. We are allowed to restrain the children if they are in danger of hurting themselves or hurting others. I have had chunks of hair pulled out and been spat at bitten and kicked but I have never even contemplated calling the police. I think America needs to get out of the lawyers and sue for everything culture and think how the world is going to be when kids know there is nothing adults can do to them to make them behave. Parents need to learn that their little darlings can and will do things wrong and it doesn't make you a bad mum or dad to say no to your kids. Discipline needs to start at home. How come parenting is the most important job someone can do and it's about the only one where you don't need to pass an exam to do. -LadyLineswine
  • Well I have a feeling that this clip did NOT show everything and most cops I know would not cuff a 5 years for nothing. I do agree that if my daughter does anything like this she will wish for the cops to take care of her. -MightyMouse
  • Well after watching it again I think the teacher handled the situation very well and cops explained what was going to happen and tried to peacefully handcuff her. She resisted and still the cops did all they could do to comfort her while still cuffing her. My mother was an elementry nurse for over a decade and can relate some very gory tales of child violence apon others. -MightyMouse
  • I remember when I was in kindergarten, i f anyone acted like that (in any grade). you were sent to the principal's office and strapped. It might sound harsh, but when you look at our generation compared to the new generation coming out now, I think we are more well behaved and civil. Parents nowadays are just bribing their kids with candy and priveledges or threatening the kids with groundings and timeouts. More and more starfish in the making -LiQUidICicle
  • The lawsuit has already been announced by the mother and her *scum sucking* lawyer. -ecoli
  • If ANY of mine horde behaved that way - they'd face a hell of a lack of sympathy from me. Mind you, I wouldn't let a 5 yo get to that state - the tantum stage should end with toddlerhood. Mother needs classes, kid needs some therapy.... -timelady
  • teachers should be allowed to carry cattle prods for uncontrolable kids. amen to that. -THETECHFROMHELL
  • My son was quite a handful when he was little. He has ADHD, and sometimes he through quite a fit. But two things I taught him at an early age was that no matter how angry or frustrated he got, #1) he was never to hit another person or animal, and #2) There would be consequences for whatever he did, even during tantrums. He didn't always remember the consequences part and did not always think it was fair when he got punished, but he was never violent. There were times when he refused to do school work but he would just sit stubbornly with his arms folded refusing to do the work. The tantrum never began until he got home and found that he was in trouble. I can't imagine a child acting like that. There is no way that is normal behavior and anyone who thinks it is should take a long hard look at their own children, because if this behavior is normal for your children, you need to get some help before it's too late. I think it's good that the cops handcuffed her and took her to her mother. From the video, it looks like they were appropriately gentle with her. Maybe now she will learn the importance of behaving in a civilized manor around other people, no matter how angry or frustrated you are. -wenwilli
  • My mother taught 1st graders that acted like that. Never called the cops, but did involve the school administrators. In the worse cases they found the child was severely, SEVERELY, neglected or abused. I remember hearing about one of her students that were tied to a chair at home for hours, so as not to bother the father. Another that was beating with electrical wire by the parents. More than once my mother was threatened by PARENTS for reporting their children as unruly. Odds are there is a history with this child and the parent. I hope the school has it’s documentation of problems with the kid in order. -Year9595

  • Meh. Here's a novel idea: how about parents actually showing some RESPONSIBILITY where their kids are concerned? You simply watch what your child does while on the net (and that also extends to monitoring the amount of TIME spent on the net, too)! It's revolutionary, it's rational, it's effective - and it's FREE! The only thing you have to pay is ATTENTION!! </rant mode off> -PTSTech
  • Have to be devil's advocate. While we should, by all means, hold parents responsible, the fact is, many aren't. I see nothing wrong with doing everything we can to protect kids (who should not be punished for their parents being fuck-ups). BTW, the tone of ECPAT's comments seems to me more like, "The IT industry should do more," as opposed to, "The IT industry is at fault." That is, they're encouraging us to do more, not accusing us of malfeasance. -QuinTech
  • I don't know if I agree with you QuinnTech. "The IT industry should do more to protect kids online, according to campaigners, who believe that tech companies should spend dosh to create a global child protection organisation and use their expertise to regulate chat rooms and block the transmission of offensive images." They want the IT industry to become NET censors despite the fact that when IT starts clamping down on such things, the SF start neeping louder and louder claiming "freedom of expression" and their "right" to do what they want with their resources. I sometimes think that they should never have taken locks off of computers. -ecoli
  • For many parents, the computer has replaced TV as the "idiot box" that they plunk their kids down in front of. MUCH more dangerous, in that personal contact can be made through the PC... -PTSTech
  • I 2nd PTST Tech. -burrkiss
  • ecoli: Yeah, they do come VERY close to accusing, but I think they stop just short. And I definitely agree with you that they want someone to act as a censor for the web. And yes, SF will neep their brainless little heads off. But sacrificing free, unfettered access to ZGB seems to me a small price to pay if it helps keep kids out of harm's way. Back in the old days, we had to walk to the video store (uphill, both ways) to get our smut, and somehow we still found ways to jerk off. <---> Censorship is an ugly, dangerous thing, but so is child molestation. I don't pretend to have the ultimate answer, but I think there are appropriate times for freedom to be curtailed. -QuinTech
  • It always starts with just one little thing, that no rational person would ever object to. But it never, ever stops there. Besides, the tech/software already exists to censor accessible content and they don't bloody use it anyway. -Owie
  • Now, it occurs to me that the IT industry HAS taken steps to protect children. How else do you explain the existence of NetNanny, SurfWatch, etc.? Are we now responsible for parents not installing these programs? -Captain Trips
  • If you create the web page, they will not visit it. If you write the software they will not install it. If you say "don't do that" they will turn their backs and do it anyway. If you block the site they will sue you. If you try to help them they will complain. If you do nothing they will accuse you. I'm sorry, the lot of those individuals who shirk their responsibilities towards their own children should be tortured and locked away in some dank, dark hole. </venom> -ecoli
  • One thread I see running through all these responses: We, as IT professionals or as an industry, are not liable for an idiot's failure to use common sense to protect his kids. I couldn't agree more. With that out of the way, let's think about the kids who don't know any better and have idiot parents. What can we do to help protect them? Anything? Or do we just throw a bunch of options at the same idiots who we know are too stupid to use them? The one thing I think nobody here is addressing is that there is an innocent party: Kids of starfish. -QuinTech
  • I agree with the good Captain. There are tools available for protecting kids. Why reinvent the wheel? -NightSteel
  • <politics> When we start putting ourselves between people and their desires we venture into an area of real danger, not only to ourselves, but to those around us. There is very little that we can do without either the authority and/or the acceptance of the masses. We do not have that. If we take out or block those sites/chatrooms that are deemed offensive (and by whom? I like ZGBP> then does that make it okay to censor/censure us? Until some authority somewhere says "Okay, I declare all porn/pedophile websites/chatrooms to be the work of terrorists" and allows us to "take them out" *insert pic of AHNOLD here* there is little that we as an industry can do except make tools to help parents manage their own (without becoming targets ourselves).</politics> That said, I would love to take out some pedophile sites with more than just a nuclear LART, some real ammmo!! BFG9000!!!!! -ecoli
  • All points I agree with. To avoid becoming (even more of) a bore, my last comment: All the negatives of censorship must be weighed against the positives that it might bring. Specifically, in this case, protecting kids. Of course, it's far from certain censorship will do that, and even if it does, I suppose it's open to debate which one is more important. Having never lived under a repressive government (so far), it's easier for me to choose than someone from, say, Romania. -QuinTech
  • Argh. I hate the crap. Nothing bothers me more in this world when I read stuff like this. I am so tired of people not taking responsibilty for their own. Whether it is movies, internet, games. I am nobody's babysitter and when they point the figure at us rather than their own damn face, it angers me. When I grew up and did something wrong, I paid for it. Now, I hear kids saying 'f you' right to their parents. In my 30's and if I did that I would still find my ass hitting the ground. And NOOOOO, not their uprbinging, but society's fault. Give me a friggin break. Pass the buck seems to be the general message these days. Hey, let's take away everyone's right to do, watch, play etc. what they want (already happening anyway in this 'free' USA) becuase someone thinks its bad. Argh. /rant Hmm, my thoughts ran all all over. As I said, it annoys the hell out of me -Mur
  • I'd like to write a length rant about parents and responsibility, but you all did that so I'm just going to say this. "Most American parents these days are complete fucking idiots and so are their kids. I hope their teeth rot to the root and their brains shortly follow. I hope you all die.", there we go. That's for the irresponsible parent and their mentally-deficient offspring. -murdermachine
  • Furthermore, you have to love how parents are buying high-end webcams for their pubsecent and adolescent kids, letting them cam-whore without every knocking on the bedroom door to see what trouble they're getting into, and then wondering why predators are getting at them. It's like handing a twelve year old a loaded shotgun and bottle of Jack Daniels. Asking for trouble and then expecting the techies to save you from yourself is exactly what Microsoft is about and people b*tch when they actually get the crippled hobbled tech they asked for in the first place. -suitepotato
  • Yeah , when they drink the jack and use the shotgun. Guess who's fault it is and they tryo to sue? JD and the gun manufacturer. Not the parent for giving it to them , but because it is available. I am american. When I win the lotto I am taking the money, and leaving. Seen other places in my life, but yes, the majority of americans are morons and a wastre of my oxygen. -Mur
  • Agreed, parents should take responsibility for their own children, but there is a simple solution. All ICANN would have to do is create a couple of top-level domains that are reserved for pr0n and other, less wholesome, activities. Then local governments could easily pass laws that would provide steep monetary fines for publishing smut on a non-reserved domain name. ICANN would also have to require the companies/organizations that are tasked with maintaining the namespaces with yanking offending sites immediately. Sure, it wouldn't completely eliminate the problem, but it would reduce it 99.9%. -scooby111
  • I like that idea, Scoob. A .smut TLD! .XXX would also do. -NightSteel
  • Scoob, I had that thought years ago after a typo. the Dot Cum anyone? -NightRain
  • Also, who's got the final say on what constitutes an "offensive image"? Me? Burrkiss? Pope Benedict XVI? Larry Flynt? Jerry Falwell? Howard Stern? -TechnoVampire
  • TechnoVampire-- *sigh* Well, someone's got to do it. Imagine the horrible task of scanning millions of webpages for smut, nudity, and sexual content. I guess I'll take the job, but you'll have to pay me at least $200,000/yr. <BFEG> -scooby111
  • Technically it would be possible. And would ensure a alot tech jobs. We will have to get more money to do so. Our rates go up. Big. -Harm
  • Scoob, this sounds like it has all of the makings of a government job! You are pricing your self too low. I see atleast $400,000yr with benefits, aides, assistants, PFYs, all of the latest techno hardware/software, maybe a non-discrept building somewhere, luxury vehicles with blacked out windows. Department of Smut, or DOS for short. We could have a budget in the millions I tell ya' ! -ecoli
  • The stupid part of all this is that the protections are out there, from Content Advisor to Net Nanny and many other options at minor or no expense. But it does nothing if the people USING the machines don't use them. -technaround
  • This shit makes me sick. It's always "think about the children" what they really mean to say is "I'm deeply offended by this smut I have encountered, yet being an adult I do not want to make myself out to be a prude, therefore I shall use an excuse to create moral outrage". It's utter bollocks! How many peices of software can you installed to block adult content these days? Besides which even if the little bastards have their own computer ya know what? UNPLUG THE DAMN MODEM, TURN OF THE WIFI! Jebus it ain't that hard to do. If you won't take responsibility for your children then don't have them, don't expect a machine (or schools) to act as a responsible parent because that isn't what they are there for. -fearmyroot
  • Exactly fearmyroot!! I'm sick and friggin tired of my taxes raising to fund schools and not see the money go to them. I'm sick of every attempt to invade privacy by the gov't is labelled "to help children" well now the US is claiming "to prevent terror attacks". -seventh

  • QuinTech I agree with the sentiment "protect the children", but I think the best way is with knowledge, the kids can choose to be different, I did. Censorship is never good, it starts with a small thing. Then another small step and another... We are all ready seeing it here in the states and if it goes on much longer you will get to see what it is like to live in a repressive government like say China. -Wolfie0827

Hire thugs to protect your establishment. Pay off the cops to avoid getting raided. Use plastic surgery to make your low class whores high classy. This is without a doubt the best online game I have seen for some time. Special thanks to my boss for showing it to me. I promise not to play more than 8 hours a day on company time. • This is why you don't install an autostart on a car with a manual tranny. Jeez. -NightSteel
  • xtc46, I doubt very much that the autostart was installed from the factory. An aftermarket shop would make you sign a waiver to put one in a car with a manual tranny for exactly this reason. And if the car *was* automatic, it shouldn't have even tried to start if the selector was in reverse. I'm not sure if that'd be a fault with the transmission's ignition interlock or with the auto start system. -NightSteel
  • I agree with NightSteel, most reputable aftermarket places will make you sign an waiver and inform you that with a standard transmission, it must be in neutral with the parking brake applied, and usually that's in writing. -GeekGirl
