Apparently this is all part of Santa's continuing plea bargain agreement over charges of Trespassing, Breaking and Entering, Violating sovereign air space, international travel without a visa, transporting contraband electronics without inspection or tariffs.....

Power over Coax has LONG been common, albeit usually about 5 to 12V ... THAT said, in one other forum, a guy mentioned that it's possible the installer mistook a power connector for a female "F" if he wasn't able to see it well. • I smell Starship Troopers...and I mean the book! -RandalGraves
  • Hellion, I don't think that I will be voting this year. It's not worth going to prison and then being deported for misrepresenting my citizenship. But I still maintain the right to have opinions. -Fuji
  • Right on hellion! Because the underage and the ex-felons in most states have no right to an opinion! -Veinor
  • Veinor - I think it's safe to say that Hellion wasn't talking about the underaged, but the majority in the US that bitch and moan - but can't be arsed to get OFF their ass and go vote about it. And tend to have opinions shaped by the news media, with little or no resemblence to the facts. As to ex-felons? They gave that right up. "Do the crime, do the time." That part's been in the laws since, oh, George the First's day (and I don't mean Bush Sr.!) Of course, you can have a contrary opinion. I tend to agree with Hellion, with the "under-aged" exclusion. -ralphp1024
  • "Ex-felons gave that right up." "Do the crime; do the time." Interesting. So if I do the crime, and then do my time, it's still perfectly acceptable to continue to restrict my rights after I'm done doing my time? It's attitudes just like that one that are responsible for the 65% recidivism rate in this country. You're saying that once someone screws up, they no longer have any say in their government, even after they've completed their sentence? Can you say "taxation without representation?" The ex-felon voter demographic is growing by hundreds of thousands each year; almost 3/4 million last year alone. We have our own lobby, and it's getting noticed. So be careful who you piss off with that attitude, ralph. -RiffRaff
  • *shrug* If you had blown your foot off, then you'd still be footless. It's part and parcel of the payback. Don't like it? Work with folks to push for changing the law. But it's still there. And *ahem* So it's perfectly right to be a criminal if you don't like the laws? That means that Ken Lay (Enron prez) was right, correct? Or was he wrong? And how would he be different from any other felon (besides the fact that he's dead now)? I don't want your answer per se - just think about it carefully. As to pissing you off? *shrug* I've pissed off others during my life. Or am I NOT permitted to have an opinion, since it doesn't agree with yours? Consider your answer to THAT also - again, no need to reply here. Just think about it. -ralphp1024
  • what? i am so ahead of that. wait till your body mod responds like me;) -hal
  • Sure, you're entitled to your opinion, even if it is idiotic and uneducated. You might try reading the Constitution at some point to answer your own questions, because nowhere does it specify that any of the rights granted to citizens become null and void upon receiving a felony conviction, including the right to bear arms. Laws preventing ex-felons from voting are simply another method of the government end-running the 15th Amendment. Don't believe me? Try doing dome research on the subject before running your mouth on a topic which you clearly know nothing about. -RiffRaff
  • Amen Riff! (From another one of the club!) -VWFtech
  • personally i oppose disenfranchisement of any kind. let felons vote from prison, IMHO. Hell, they have time to actually research their candidates, right? -illiterate
  • um, what does felon voting rights have to do with robot suits? -illiterate
  • Got me. Hellion started it. ;~} -RiffRaff
  • Riff - You MIGHT want to re-read what I wrote. NOWHERE did I say it was in the Constitution. Speed limit laws aren't in the constitution either. Nor are the laws against murder. You claiming they don't apply to anyone either? Secondly - that's on a state by state basis. *shrug* But that's simple - just don't commit a felony, you won't lose your right to vote in those states. And - as I said - don't put words in other folks mouths. Never said it was in the constitution. If I did - QUOTE where I did, m'kay? -ralphp1024
  • Just don't commit a felony and all is good, huh Ralph? Well, having looked at your raped constitution, that isn't so easy. And what about getting arrested protesting your lack of rights? Do we all become mindless obedient robots? Oh, and the holier than thou tone of that is pretty arrogant, btw. What happened to redemption, done the time, its over? Is the US so punitive that it must keep punishing after prison? Are felons not human citizens too? Dont they have a right to say what their world post prison, the world their families live in, should be like? Thats so sodding self righteous, makes my blood boil. -timelady

  • Meh.... Way over-hyped, but true. ( http://www.snopes.com/food/ingredient/bugjuice.htm ) You inhale more insects (whole) when you dust your furniture and vacuum your house then you ingest from these foods. Additionally, ask anyone who's been through survival training, and they'll tell you that insects are an excellent source of protein. -RiffRaff

  • I'm not really disturbed by this at all, particularly considering that lobster, crab, and creyfish are very closely related to spiders and scorpions. What disturbs me more are caviar and patte (fish eggs and whipped goose liver). People actually pay lots of money to eat that stuff. -Antacid

  • Hyperland, by DNA (with Tom Baker!) - From the BoingBoing article : "In this one-hour documentary produced by the BBC in 1990, Douglas falls asleep in front of a television and dreams about future time when he may be allowed to play a more active role in the information he chooses to digest. A software agent, Tom (played by Tom Baker), guides Douglas around a multimedia information landscape, examining (then) cuttting-edge research by the SF Multimedia Lab and NASA Ames research center, and encountering hypermedia visionaries such as Vannevar Bush and Ted Nelson. Looking back now, it's interesting to see how much he got right and how much he didn't: these days, no one's heard of the SF Multimedia Lab, and his super-high-tech portrayal of VR in 2005 could be outdone by a modern PC with a 3D card. However, these are just minor niggles when you consider how much more popular the technologies in question have become than anyone could have predicted - for while Douglas was creating Hyperland, a student at CERN in Switzerland was working on a little hypertext project he called the World Wide Web..." With all the crap that's happened since, there was a lot of good shown that day and the days following, by the emergency personnel and the people and companies that banded together to help out. • Yes, 9/11 was a terrible thing. So what did America do? Attack a country that had nothing to do with it, namely Iraq. • Iraq should have been dusted LONG before 911 just for firing missles at the patrol aircraft.
