1. Again....
It's going to be another dead calling day for the biz. For those of you who haven't already heard, the Columbia has burned up during re-entry. Shades of Challenger and September 11th. May the Lord take those brave men and women unto himself.

  • May Raven bring their souls safely to the Land of the Dead, and may their Ancestors welcome them with open arms. -Dragones
  • Amen MadJack -paul
  • Ditto... -hkypipe
  • These are the kind of days that make me angry. A lot of good people died today, but customers think their problems are so important. -kilo
  • Of course they do. That's what makes them lusers. They don't ever stop in a moment like this to think about how precious life is and maybe, just maybe, we should go enjoy a few hours of playing with the kids or enjoying a walk in the park. Nope, it's my damn printer won't work! And this is on a Saturday! -CaffeineHead
  • Yup. Here I am working, and they're calling in non-stop like they've got to grasp something miniscule to get their heads around today. Last one called for the credit dept, and made excuses about hating technology for why he dialed 0 instead of listening to the prompts. FOCUS! -MadJack
  • Amen, and I'm the most religionless person ever. It kills me how people can die everyday, and other people still want help with their petty problems. If we truely all did care, america and the world would be a much better place. -Vertigo
  • For the record its business as usual , sad thing is not on caller has even mentioned it . . . And for those who lost their lives May yoy be in heaven a half hour before the devil knows your dead -Termin
  • I interrupted my Diablo gaming session to go and watch BBC news 24 when I heard about it. Was choked up for much of the time and I have a shed load of candles going at the moment for the crew and their families. May they find out what caused this horrific accident and stop it ever happening again. -CommanderData
  • I REALLY, REALLY don't want to sound like an insensitive prick, but whats so special about today that we should be extra annoyed with EU's for calling us? yes, there was a terrible accident, yes several people (and some lab rats) lost their lives. How is this different from yesterday? or last week? or last summer when my aunt, uncle and all three of their children were killed in a car accident? I still went to work, the world kept turning. It just strikes me as odd that hundreds of people starve to death around the world everyday, and nobody gives a rats ass about it, but when its an American and CNN broadcasts it, suddenly its a huge tragedy and most people (who've never been inside a church in their lives) suddenly get religious?? Not directed at anyone on this site but I'm kinda having an extremely shitty day and don't need more crap piled on, especially when it really doesn't affect me. Sorry if I hurt anyones feelers, but I needed to get that off my chest. -SpinyFrog
  • I'm mostly upset because of the possible effects on future space missions, etc. I want to see a viable long-term and sustainable colony in my lifetime, damnit. -namor
  • Namor: I totally agree, but its not gonna happen until NASA upgrades their technology and equipment. I mean come on, they're only 20 years out of date... -SpinyFrog
  • Spiny, I'm not saying people should not call tech support. I just think they should keep their problems in perspective. You are right though, it should be like that every day. -kilo
  • I wouldn't call Columbia's destruction "shades of september 11th". The scale of destruction is nowhere near the same. In the end, Columbia's destruction is unfortunate and costs a lot of money; but in the end, it's a pretty minor disaster. Let's not make more of this just because it happens to be a spaceship. It's just another train or plane crash. Unfortunatly. -WildKard
  • I agree with Spiney to some extent, whats so different about toady?, far more ppl die & its a far greater tradegdy every time a DC10 or a 747 goes down. Today is a setback for NASA, & a personal tragedy for the families of the shuttle crew, but beyond that , c'mon!, why should the EUs be critiscised for phoning in today?, many might have had no idea this had even happened, I spent today out, & heard nothing about this until I watched the evening news tonight, not everyone spends all their free time glued to the TV or the web. -Digital Dogcow
  • That's not NASA's fault, Frog. Our fearless leaders in Congress keep them on a shoestring budget, and I don't foresee that changing anytime in the near future. I, too, would like to see space travel open up to common civilians in my lifetime, but unless Congress increases their funding, it just ain't gonna happen. BTW Frog, not to minimize your loss, over which you are obviously still hurting, but those seven people were pioneers taking more risks during their 2-week mission then most people take in their entire lifetime. Doesn't mean that they were more important, but they were symbols of what can be accomplished by mankind. That's why a lot of people are reacting the way they are. I can sympathize with your feelings, but you might cut everyone else some slack. Just a humble opinion. -RiffRaff
  • In truth, we know the world rolls on in cases like this, whether we like it or not. On 9/11, the world stopped. Everyone just stopped in dumbfoundment, like they did in January 86 when Challenger went down. However, while everyone has to have something to get their heads around it, I think they ought to stop and put things in perspective. There are much bigger things happening than just their little problems. The seven on Columbia just found that out. They're free, bound for a warrior's rest. The rest of us need to focus on what's real. -MadJack
  • While I am forced to agree with Spiny, Dogcow and Wildkard, the source of my anger stems from the EU's who every day of my life act as though the fact that they can't fax their office is a tragedy equivilant to or surpassing the shuttle, Sept 11, WWII, etc. I guess on a day like today I notice it more. I mean, just how important is it that you're able to scan your vacation pictures and alter their size, colour, etc.? Why do these people immediately call tech support for whiny little issues when they could be enjoying their Saturday? Y'know, like I wish I could! -CaffeineHead
  • May the Great Spirit guide them. -tlpervert
  • RiffRaff: ah! there's the diff. they're not MY fearless leaders in congress. (I'm Canadian) and Caffinehead: I totally agree, EU's who think not being able to log onto AOL is a bigger tragedy that the Challenger crash need to be drawn and quartered. End of Story. -SpinyFrog
  • My prayers (which I do not do very often) go the pilots' families. Their loss is very saddening, but I am worried how our fearless leader GW Bush is going twist this into a political campaign to get the war on Iraq started. -ab1normalh
  • What pisses me off is that there are already 2 entries on E-Bay supposedly auctioning off shuttle debris. Lusers who are either ignorant or apathetic about what happened is one thing; f@ckheads that try to cash in on it is an entirely different matter completely. I hope the FBI tracks them down and drops them out of an airplane from 5 miles up. -RiffRaff
  • I dunno. Most of you are probably going to hate me for saying this; but I find something quite pathetic about my 'distaster news' being posted as a TSC story (as well as mentionned on gamesites, IT mailing lists and forums where it doesn't belong). These things tend to get blown out of proportion quite quickly. -WildKard
  • RiffRaff: Something else we can blame on lusers (for buying) -WildKard
  • Maybe so, Wild, maybe so. Remember this: What happens to one of us, happens to all of us. A lot of us here work on computers because, to us, they're keys to the future. One more step toward the dream of a better tomorrow. We're dreamers, and how many of us haven't been inspired by sci-fi because it has so many variants of what tomorrow can be like. A piece of that dream died today. We now have to work that much harder to keep the dream alive when budget cutters and nay sayers and reactionaries would as soon drag us kicking and screaming back into yesterday. Never forget. -MadJack
  • The point here is that besides the death of 7 heroes (those who take extreme risk for the benefit of others than themselves), Mankind's jouney into space travel has taken a tremendous blow. Certainly there are other ways into space and the space programs of some other countries have the ability to put people into space, but I beleive that the even after this, the shuttle is to date the safest and most economical way to get humans off the planet. -SparcMan
  • It's good to see concern on this website about current events - I only hope that the country can get over the tragedy - "get back on the horse" so to speak - and get back to exploring space. -Diskrider

  • Dude, Hotlinking not allowed, dead link and OMFG popups galore!! -SpinyFrog
  • no we had gilatens and torture chambers for the lusers -postal tech
  • Popups? heh not for me! Hooray Mozilla's built-in pop up blocker! -DaSwish
  • Yeap.. thats how we feel in our office sometimes... -MoonDogg
  • http://robs-humour.0catch.com/cubicles.htm dat should work i think -shooric
  • couldn't see the pic... but here we don't have cubicles we have worst... offices with 3-4 techs... always gotta pray the stinky ones don't come and sit next to you. -punkgoddess
  • Bah to the popups, but I love the 'no index.html found' message: 4. I don't know anything HELP! -Coward
  • To view the pic you have to copy the URL and place it in a 'just--opened' window, at least that worked for me. With that said, how the heck do they move around in there? What if the person in the middle of the farm needs to use the bathroom? Do they all file out? Actually, looking closer, they look like they're only 3 wide, with narrow aisles. Talk about no leg room though. Stretching out would cause a domino effect. -Jeckler
  • Yeah it's something like that except with walls I pretty much stare at a corner all day with a glaring computer scran staring back at me -tempest

  • 3. good god these are college kids
not a tech story but a postal tech update well you all know that i postal tech left the support indy.i work for a university here in a low stress job-my training takes 3 months, but right now im doing the easy stuff.well its that time of year where the kiddes turn in there loan papers.easy enough they just sign and hand in--but no their are a chosen few who come into the office and ask what they are suppose to do with these papers.first the instructions i sent with them clearly state what needs to be done and second these are the dumbwits who had to do this last semester so they should know what the hell to do..strange enough none of the freshmen had a problem but the vetern students had issues.

  • Hey postal tech? What happened to your shift key? Is it broken? I got one I can lend you . . . -robbor
  • Nothing strange here, Sorry Postal, but the longer u work in the education sector the more u will come to appreciate how absurdly dumb the allegedly educated really are. THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING! - Have Fun ! -Digital Dogcow
  • A sense of humor, being able to not take the stuff too seriously, and a few good, strong beers definitely help in working at a University. -ltu1542hvy
  • seems to me nothing more then another case of RTFM. the sad thing is, i'm an education major. you should listen to the grammar from some of my professors. no, my shift key's not broken - i'm just lazy. -omegawolf
  • Must have to be pathetically farkin' lazy not to use the shift key, geez... -obie099

  • No. Definitely not. We at least have elbow room. And we have walls (or at least I do) so that if my coworker smells or talks too loudly, they don't interfere with me. -CaffeineHead
  • WARNING!!! POPUPS!!!!! -kilo
  • I'm using Pop-up Stopper...I saw none. The cubicles are 1) too bright, and 2) missing the cauldrons, smoke, drum-beating guy and mean dude with a whip... -hkypipe
  • Sorry about the popups! I should ditch 0catch, they're a bunch of arseholes! -robbor
  • Use Mozilla (or Safari for the Mac OSX crowd). You can block popups. -Antacid
  • Wow 200 japs in front of computers & not one of em is playing Final Fantasy VIII (& yup Safari blocked those pop-ups) -Digital Dogcow
  • :P. They're on camera. It's the text version of the game. No GUI means it looks like work. FF8? ewwwwww. -WildKard

  • 5. These people scare me...
{Same EU as last post} I installed somekinda virus software last night, y'think that might be causing this? Me: That depends on which program you installed, do you know which one it was? EU: I dunno, which ever one kept popping up. <thinking to myself> so when some popup comes on your screen and asks you for a credit card number you just type it in??!!! you don't even know the name of the program or who you just gave your money to?? WTF is wrong with these people!!???

  • I should get in on this business. Write a small c++ program to "del *.* c:\windows\temporary internet file". Put a frightening popup ad somewhere in the internet, charge $30 for it. I'll make millions of the ignorance of lusers! -paul
  • heck, why bother with a c++ program, just make a batch program! -TMBG37
  • You are too late guys - Windows Washer is already ot there :P -shooric
  • Heh, You could pop up a message like "<b>(L)user Access Fee</b>: Your computer requires a (L)user Access Fee of $35.00. Enter your Visa or MasterCard number to continue." -Antacid

  • 6. Sadly, he's one of my best friends...
A little while ago, I'm talking to a classmate of mine about why he doesn't get AIM already, stop using AOL, and go get a nice hotmail or excite email account, especially because he has cable, and he says he just uses AOL for internet and mail. "I would Vert, but my computer is really slow sometimes and gives me BSODs, and I don't know why!" "Maybe that would have something with the fact that your desktop is almost full with items, I think your systray is too, you didn't take my advice and get Ad-Aware after uninstalling Kazaa and getting Kazaa lite, and you have more things than you can count in your favorites folder and etc, would it?" "That would change things?" And he wonders why I grit my teeth so much, and NO, it does not have to do with my mood!

  • That is why the only thing I will do to a computer with AOL is FNR (format and reinstall) !! After that... we can talk... -MoonDogg
  • There are several people I know who I can see how crappy their computer is running just by looking at the system tray. They always say "no, that's okay" when I offer to do maintenance. Sadly enough, I've had moments where I dream of breaking in and cleaning up the system. -WildKard
  • And you haven't already? -Antacid
  • reminds me of a quote from a friend. in a very enthusiastic deep smoker's voice,"Nuke and Pave, baby!" -LadiesMan402

eu was complaining that less than a week ago , after she installed ie 6 on her system it screwed everything up and she had to format and reisntall windows and now her system is acting up again, so I ask, have you installed anything new lately ? " Just ie 6 "

  • Had the same thing yesterday, A lady installed AOL and it messed up her computer, so she had to format/reload and the first thing she did was install AOL, and it of course messed up her computer. I feel sorry for any of you poor people who may be stuck working support for that horrid piece of crap software. -kilo
  • I just fixed a (home) system for a co-worker. AOL all over the place - not anymore! Nuked it, paved it, now it's shiny and clean... -hkypipe
  • Applied EU logic: UE inserts red-hot sharp object into left eye... "OWWW that HURTS!!" Inserts same red-hot object into right eye... "AHHHHHGGG!! WHY did that HURT?!" -SparcMan
  • & anyone who thinks Sparc' is joking here only need go over my previous posts! <shudder!> -Digital Dogcow
  • No offense to you AOL techs, but I have nightmares about walking customers through removing remnants of AOL from their registry that "Uninstall AOL" somehow seems to miss. Fortunately, I have it down to a science, and have only had to nuke & pave a couple of systems due to AOL. -RiffRaff
  • Getting rid of AOL is the easy part. What about restoring the zillions of windows files AOL overwrites w/o backing-up first? -obie099

  • 8. God help us
A young lady called in today & asked if we were having problems with the network (it's always our fault), you know the sweet kinda voice.....you really wanna help her. She was on (something) a 2 wire network, I explained we don't support networks, blah, blah & asked her to bypass it. She was willing (gotta love the willing ones) to do it, but then she informed her room mate of the situation her room mate said "no don't disconnect i'm on the phone with dlink getting help". lol p.s - Also they were university students.

EU is not sure why she need a license for MS Media Player or why she has two licenses backed-up in her e-book folder. EU complains about having IncrediMAil, Pogo and Yahoo on the computer, been unable to uninstall it and HP for putting it on the computer restore image. • And to think that if people also had similar problems operating motor vehicles then they would never have been able to obtain a license to legally drive in the first place. There really needs to be some sort of computer operating license if people want support and/or have their systems connected to the Internet. Considering how many viruses there are that replicate themselves and take advantage of a system's connectivity to spread to other systems often without the luser's knowledge. -Kurgan
  • Speaking of Incrudimail, has anybody has any mail from this POS? I think it might be a virus! -robbor

  • 12. But it works on my desktop!
Had a (l)user chat in earlier in my shift with a Toshiba laptop that was having problems connecting to the 'net (dropping connections, etc). We're not an ISP, so I asked him to make sure his connection settings and modem configuration were correct. He responds that his ISP said they were correct. (An aside - our client software can scan a user's comp for sysinfo.) Our data returns that his modem is functioning properly. "But it works fine on my desktop!" Well, quit whining and use your desktop, then! And also, don't buy a crappy laptop. Suggested he call the phone company and /or Toshiba.

  • farkin freak y guy - if you get a laptop - update your modem driver reu larily "uh i have a toshiba laptop and its dropping the connection" i check the logs - LOST CARRIER, sig to noise fine"excuse me madam but whats the modem you are using - "it says gold card" check modemhelp.org "oh a psion goldcard, i have one string, if this doesn't work you will need to se a tech to get the new driver but you will need a new driver regardless for it to hold the connection" "whats a driver and why o i need it, its your service thats the problem , not my computer" - ooooooooooK. -cerberus
  • Laptops or otherwise, my customers have no clue about drivers and init strings. I usually use analogies to car maintenance and such to try to educate the morons that you can't just by a system, plug it in, and use it for three years without some maintenance/upgrades. Scandisk/Defrag usually sinks in but they just don't seem to get it about updating their drivers regularly. -RiffRaff

  • 13. "I'm a non-profit organization!"
This should really go under customer type, but it's been said, so I'm just going to rant. Customer calls in and the first things out of mouth, with an extreme amount of perverse pride are "I run the such-and-such organization, we're non-profit" When she describes the problem, "We just bought your such-and-such for our non-profit organization..." I tell her the problem is she is trying to get 50-100 pound paper to feed through the printer, "We bought your top of the line model for our non-profit organization..." (it's no where near top of the line, nearly five years old and not even close to being the most expensive) Oh, and "My manual says this is supported media. I run a non-profit organization, I know how to read." I explain it is supported, if you feed it one at a time through the rear manual, and use only up to the maximum paper weight allowed. "So you're saying that we, a non-profit organization are going to have to buy an expensive plotter to do what it is we need to do." Yep. "We're a non-profit organization! WE don't have access to those kind of funds..." And I'm leaving out MOST references she made to the fact she runs a "non-profit organization" Do you hear me? I'm leaving out the MA-FARKIN-JORITY of references to where she is calling from. And my supervisor came up later to ask we I was strangling myself with my phone cord. I told him, and he said, "I keep a 22 under my desk, just signal me next time, and I'll put you out of your misery."

  • -eye twitch- Apparently "non-profit" as far as some people are concerned means "my shyte don't stink" -Dragones
  • Ma'am, stop saying "non-profit organization". I dont care if you work for Jerry's Kids or General Motors, the solution to your problem will be the same -LadiesMan402
  • I wonder how much they make per year ;) -Grembo
  • Now that I think of it, most of my Lottery Players ("Day Traders") are non-profits also. I think next time they call about a connection I'll also ask them about upgrading their printer. ;-) -deltree/y
  • No funds? Guess you'll just have to cope with less paper fed in at once. -WildKard
  • So non-profit means you couldn't get a for-profit company to work...? -flare
  • The real question is, were they a non-profit organization by design, or by hiring people like that luser? -Robster2001
  • I guess after they buy the plotter, they'll still be a non-profit organization. Think of it as a way to shed some of those excess funds. We wouldn't want you making a profit now would we? -scooby111
  • I also work for a non-profit organization. I still buy things from for-profit orgainzations. Idiots. -scooby111
  • Just because your company is soooo STUPID that you CAN'T MAKE A PROFIT does not make you a NON-PROFIT COMPANY! -Diskrider

Figure out what a power cord is. It supplies a AC current? How did they survive this long. I now tell them that it's the one you stick your tongue to it electracutes you.

  • "Sir, could you please check to make sure that it's your power cord?" bzzzzzzzzzzzt! 1 down, 6 billion to go... :) -Wiser
  • Yeah, why can't people determine which one is the power cord. Have they been living in a different world? Geez... it happens almost every call: "Which one is the power cord?"... People should take a test b4 buying a computer, just like tests b4 buying handguns... -fxdwg6922
  • I really love working with dips who call me from 3,000 miles away and ask, "Is that the white one?" when I ask them to unplug the CM's power cord. I've sometimes said, "No, it should have shipped with a MAROON cord." -deltree/y
  • ... and some of these MAROONS have even asked me what color "maroon" was. They are so dumb they don't even realize when they have been slimed. Idiots! -deltree/y

  • 15. Seriously, Toshiba, come on now.
What is it with Toshiba laptops? Seriously, do people not know these things suck? Had an EU call (mind you, this is five minutes into my shift) and complain that his laptop battery would be drained after turning off the computer, letting it sit, and then turning it back on. I walked him through the power mgmt settings in WinME (argh) and then realized that he said the computer had been all the way off when it drained. I asked him if he had gotten a new battery, to which he replied that he had, as this exact even had happened before. Sounded like a hardware problem to me so I passed him off to Toshiba's tech support after advising him on GOOD laptops (to which he claimed were all too expensive, as the Toshiba had cost him $999). Hmmm, wonder why?

  • Anyone who buys Toshiba, Tangent or Acer laptops deserve what they get. Which in my opinion should be a good trashing. Someone somewhere should explain to people that where you might want to find a cheaper laptop, if you buy the cheapest laptop, you get an overpriced paper weight. -JDub
  • I've had 3 Toshiba laptops, including my current one, and they have all served me well. Of course, I pamper all of my machines, which most lusers don't. Maybe I just got lucky. -RiffRaff
  • I walked him through PC World's top ten laptops, but only the first three because it always seems Toshiba's #4. -flare
  • You do get what you pay for, but I use Toshiba and I've never had a problem. Some of the older models did have a problem with the batteries tho. -scooby111
  • Whadaya expect from the company that pioneered the teeny track point device that sits in the middle of the keyboard and can't be managed with with two fingers? No less, no more. -MadJack

  • 16. Wish I hadn't come in today
Got back from a lovely weekend of non-stop gaming to encounter a) the boss who gave me the shite review on Friday and b) the dreaded 'I think I should be a hacker' EU. This guy had complained that his computer game wasn't loading at home (okay, I'll be nice, it's naff all to do with work but I gotta play nice after that god-awful review). Fast abandoned the case when it turned out a) his sister had left her cup of tea on top of the CD and b) he had flashed the BIOS to try and fix it. PMT be damned - EUS (End User Syndrome) is far, far, worse. Where's the damn prozac.

  • Gaming software? Well (deep breath), Diablo, Diablo 2, Starcraft, Heroes of Might and Magic, Doom, Quake, Half-life, Starship Titanic, Civilisation 2 and the list goes on! My boss was being an especial jerk today (I was meeting a friend for lunch at 12 and he was like 'can't you go for lunch later?' just as I was putting my coat on), so I got home this evening and proceeded to kick seven shades of shit out of some aliens on Starcraft - ahhhhhhhhh. -CommanderData
  • zerg soup.... yum -Hawking
  • "Spawn more Overlords" -Digital Dogcow
  • Please don't attempt this at home (do it at work). Just get a small set of box wrenches and loosen the bosses bleeder valves on his breaks. Makes for about 4 good braking attempts before failure.... -helldesk
  • 'Power Overwhelming', mind you, I love the squelchy noises the zerg make when I've kicked hell out of them with a shed load of Dark Templars! -CommanderData
  • Hay CD, how is the Starship Titanic game?? I read the book and it really stunk (sorry Douglas, you're still one of my fav authors). I'm thinking of getting Morrowind. -SparcMan
  • Starship Titanic is "Myst as designed by Mr. Adams". Unfortunatly that makes it hard and weird. But it's... uh, interesting. I can't get anywhere :P -WildKard
  • Played it, loved it, finished it! -CommanderData

  • 17. Are bathrooms within my bounds?
Working the night shift, I'm the only one in the complex where my company is - no guards, nothing. Just me and a couple million worth of HDDs. So I go to get a soda last night and I notice there's an inch and a half of water on the floor coming from the bathroom. Apparently, someone had put a hose on the sink in the bathroom and left it on, causing the entire bathroom and the hallway to flood and leak out the front of the building. After calling my super, the COO and the CEO of the company (mind you, at 4am), I turned it off and saved the company, but I find it pretty funny that I'm TSing bathrooms because we never ever get calls from about 1130-0530. I don't get paid enough.

  • 18. Folder, file, what difference?
Email waiting for me first thing monday morn from a customer - I set up his webhosting and DNS for a new website. He says he uploaded a page and it doesn't show up going to the address. Check DNS first, it's fine. Log on to server, browse over to that folder - hm. There *is* an "index.html"... try and edit it to see why it's giving 404's, and... "File index.html is a directory". Wha? Damnit, they created a folder called that, with a file "Index.html" inside it... I *wonder* why the server is crapping out when loading the site. The worst part is, they're a small computer company that just signed up. Maybe they don't have to know that much about the internet, but they should know the difference between files and folders, don't ya think?

  • 19. I'll get right on that
Had a customer screaming and yelling at me about the fact they needed to print something out, they are on the road, will lose their job if they don't, the usual sob story. Needs to be in color, and it's printing in black and white, and blurry. Banging my head off my desk I ask, "Are you aware this product can only hold one ink cartridge at a time?" I get a screamed "of course." And then I ask, trying to strangle myself with the phone cord. "Are you aware that black is not one of the colors in the color ink cart?" Another yelling "Obviously!" Me, still trying, "Can you verify what ink cartridge you're using please?" Yelling "NO! I will not insult my intelligence like that! When do I get to talk to the real tech?" Me, "First, you're talking to the real tech. Second, take out the ink cart to confirm the model number and batch number for me." Dumbass "Fine...It says black number...oh..." "Yeah, get a color ink cart in there, and if it still doesn't print, give us a call back." <click>

  • 20. higher position
Hey everyone. I need some advice. There is a higher position availble at my work, that I want to apply for the hours are during the week no weekends for now. It's a little more money but no talking to EU's. I have the qualifications for the postions but I'm not sure if I should go for it. It would mean that I would have more responsiblity doing call backs etc. Do you think that I should go for it?

  • Go for it. You haven't mentioned any cons, have you? And even if you don't get it, applying and/or interviewing gets your name out there, in larger corporations. -namor
  • I don't have to work weekends but it would mean more responsiblity so far there are only 2 other people going to apply for it. one of them seems to know more than I do. But the way I look at it what have I got to loose oh no I didn't get the job I still have my tech job -Dean241
  • Sounds like a no-brainer. Moving up is the only way to make more money and to do something better with your life than listening to customer's whining. As long as you're in computers, there will be customer support, but as you move up, the customers become easier to handle. -scooby111
  • "yeah want cheesy poofs!"......WTF??, should u go for it??, jesus! bite their farkin hands off. -Digital Dogcow
  • GO GO GO NOW NOW NOW... -hkypipe
  • Tell me where to send the resume if your not gonna go for it :) -n8
  • Well I did it. I applied for the higher position. However there are some other people going for it as well. Not that I didn't think that other people would, but some of them have computer degrees under their belt. I don't think it'll make a difference though. I hope I get it I'll keep you postal I mean posted. Cheer me on fellow techs. -Dean241
