The End Of An Era
I do believe that my time here at Peyton Place has pretty much run itself out. This has been a suck-ass year as far as how I've been treated by the PHBs. Since I started here six years ago my blood pressure has gone up, I've had to see my therapist twice, I have had to triple the dosage of my SSRI, and I've added Atavan to the pharmaceutical cocktail very recently. This place is just not a healthy environment. I have begun the process of slowly cleaning out my office because I don't expect it will be long before I either quit in favor of a new job or I am let go because I am no longer tolerating the treatment and I'm standing up to them, which is, of course, insubordination in their eyes. More details to follow soon, I'm sure.

  • Sorry to hear that, Riff - has it really been 6 years? Sad that it's coming to an end but better to be out of an arsehole-ridden environment before it does you any permanent damage. Good luck finding a new gig. -Gromit
  • Sucks that it has to get to that point, Riff, and I should know. I've been taking SSRI's since last October courtesy of my sister's antics, and the stress of some places is absolutely unreal. Sending you some karma to find a better place ASAP. -skippytpodar
  • Ditto, one Keg-O-Karma on its way. -ecoli
  • Good luck on finding a new job. Think of the fun you can have once you give 2 weeks notice... -Starfury
  • I don't know about you but it is not possible for be to be insubordinate. Not because I am a doormat but because I am not in the Army. Can they fire you for mild bad manners? -Holdfast
  • Our state is an "at will" state. They can fire you for having pink hair. They can fire you for having the wrong political bumper sticker on your car. There are a limited number of reasons that can protect you from being fired for those. otherwise, you or the employer can quit the other for any reason whatsoever. -Magenta
  • Sadly magenta is correct. Riff if you need any contacts let me know i know some decent recruiters and DFAS is hiring out at the fort. -deedadee
  • Technically, many states are at-will employment states. However, even a barely-competent lawyer can win an unfair-discharge lawsuit in an at-will state. There is a common law implied covenant involved in at-will employment. -ManyHats
  • Good luck, dude. -Grue
  • Every time I've been thinking about leaving but start clearing my desk before I think I'm 10% decided, I've at heart been 100% decided. No job is worth sacrificing your health and sanity (as much sanity as any of have in this line of work). If you think you can, kick 'em in the ass a few times with an insubordinate boot, and get OUT, man. As a certain other brigand has said, "No reward is worth this..." -Lusus
  • I commend you for making it 6 years - I only made it 3 at my former place of employment. -redevil34
  • Good luck. -pencil
  • Has it really been 6 years? I remember when you went there full time. Good luck moving on :) -smellystudent
  • Fun sure flies when you're doing time. -ecoli
  • Good luck! -MadJack
  • I realize I'm a few days late to the party, but I'm sorry things aren't working out better for you man. Best of luck in finding something you'll enjoy again. (and hugs to the Mrs. from me) -wolfprince
  • yeah, I'm late too, but get out before you check out. I nearly did 12 years ago. -HappyCrappy
  • Dude... sorry to hear that. We've all been there. You need anything, PM me. Seriously. -linkv
