Bio: Nerd, Geek, Dork since birth. IS Manager at a small Civil Engineering firm, and freelance IT for a few special customers. I'm lucky enough to not deal with many "End Users", and usually have the authority to LART them as necessary.

"Helen Waite" -- Careful, that's approximately the real name of the Queen of TSC. -concept14 Welcome to the wonderful world of the TSC Big Butt Club. -Rabbitt if your wife has windows xp or 200 you should run the Microsoft Antispyware tool in full system scan and then open the system explorer tool in advanced tools to check BHO's and tool bars. I get 5 calls like this a day at PC Saftey Dept...1-866-727-2338 Usually it resolves the issue. Then you can dish out for a tech.. -Z0nker Might have ya covered for Burton... Got a tech friend of mine in Grand Blanc. I'll talk to him tonite 6/29 - email me @ gmail dot com. -Ulfgaard that really sucks about your friend...It also made me realize that late and left early would be the same with the new policy as it was with the old one, now Im worried. I will have to check that out tonight
-saneagain yeah man figured as much was tres dicey with the pop ups and all muchos thankos for the info! -starfishmagnet sorry, it was a 15" monitor, and she got four zip disks, even the other guy said it was an ok deal for early 2000 -Casca http://www.techcomedy.com/single/new_stories.php?content_number=54855 I'll not let Burrkiss off, either! -lineswine Married and poly. And bi, although that's not all that relevant where HC is concerned. ;-) -pixel Nahh, they won't rip it out, because they are convinced that despite all medical evidence to the contrary I might decide to go insane and have kids. So I'm saving up to get it removed privately, I've had enough of the british health system and it's "You have to suffer in pain becuase you might want babies!" mentality. -CommanderData Many thanks for the link mate - that could just be the final link in the "get-the-fark-away-from-AOL" chain. -Gromit Thanks for the tip mate - It does look like the BIOS is hosed. Fortunately the bloody machine is still under warranty so she can send it back for repairs. -CommanderData Re: "readie" old old usenet reference. Think of it as the grandaddy of "teh". -Digital Dogcow The DM who told me the rapier tale was the weapons officer on one of Her Magestys ships so I assumed he knew if it was a man portable missle. I should have known when he was transfered to Navigation and once they left their berth at Liverpool and 3 hours later had not made it to sea. Their ship did recieve a message after one NATO excersis that basically said congratulations the enemy forces had no idea where you were but unfortunalely neither did your own side -Zoomer Reverse polarity Karma, I kind of like that (though it sounds like something you'd hear in a Ghostbusters cartoon). Anyway, thanks! -NightSteel Thank you for the funny comments you left me!!! -ramyta I'm proud to recall that at no time at all and with no other recourses but my own resources, with firm application and determination... I made a fool of myself! -miyako Similar tastes? Isn't that normal for techs around here? - VoiceOfSanity (yeah, right...) -VoiceOfSanity Divinar -- You went to RPI? I was in the DUMP program there... -chazz Ah, wonderful Troy, NY. The snow, the beer, the cold, the beer, hockey line, the beer ... Hmmm, wonder if the reason I only went for a year is apparent? -Ramblin From that quote alone, I see what you're saying. But here's the whole story via breakroom. http://www.techcomedy.com/members/message_board/viewtopic.php?p=122778#122778 -beerman Div: Got your message. Link: http://www.pclinuxos.com/ The initial look is not "vistaish", the newest release called MiniMe has a closer look. But it can be made to look so close to vista that is scary. An example in a post I made there: http://www.pclinuxos.com/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=26&topic=37383.0
Install it; update it in full, install a little app called "Compiz-fusion icon" and watch the 3-D desktop. It's amazing. -TheGhost Mc Same, arent you smart enough to come up with your own lines. Thats why YOU will never own your own Lear. -randyskier I've been asked to do, what I'd consider advanced programming to create an e-form for managers to use when someone leaves the company. The e-form when submitted is to email a copy to certain departments with what is to be done with the persons email, mobile, pc, etc. And it has to work from Microsoft Sharepoint. Hope that helps a bit -Caboose447
