thanks for the tip on www.howstuffworks.com that's gonna help my call times!! -KuroTaka Any time! I don't know all the answers, but I pretty good at finding them. -LaserGuru LG: I'm a SF collector. If you have old Astounding and F&SF that I don't, I would be interested in... taking them off your hands. -chazz Piers Anthony's Xanth collection should be closed. It is up to like 30 books now.
I liked his Incarnations of Immortality and Apprentice Adept series much better. They are each 7 books long.
-Brf I am interested in learning pro codes. -Traytor Last of the Summer Wine fan?
Tee Hee - it is filmed 6 miles from my house.
The view out of my window at home is of the Colne Valley, the Holme valley (LoTSW is filmed in Holmfirth in the Holme valley)is just over the horizon from me.
If you've seen the programme at all yopu'll have realised that the horizon can be as close as 3 miles due to the hilly country of the pennine range of hills here - It is known as the "backbone of England" due to its running for 150 miles or so straight up the country.
I suppose my accent is somewhere between of Cleggies & Compos.
Bill Owen was actually a Londoner - TOTALLY different accent, but he was considered by Yorkshire folk to be the only non-yorkshire actor to have perfected the accent.
If I'm not mistaken he is buried somewhere up here, as he fell in love with the place. If you want anymore details on the programme or Yorkshire in general contact me & I'd be more than happy to provide...at the moment I send REAL teabags to 2 sets of friends in the USA, 1 we met on holiday in California, the other I just know online. Having tasted the stuff Americans get offered as tea it seems a bit of a mercy mission! -lineswine LG - Saw your vet comment, what branch. Almost a decade Navy myself. -Hellion Great! Another Tangerine Dream fan...I've seen 'em live a couple of times myself - I stopped counting after 25 or so albums.
Good techy music. -lineswine If you are searching for TD stuff, try www.totalrecall.de - specialist suppliers of second hand records/CDs etc. They (as the URL suggests) are in Germany, but ship anywhere - I've bought from them a few times myself & their prices are reasonable & they have stuff I haven't found anywhere else. The TD page I got was http://www.musicstack.com/my/index.cgi?seller=1325 -lineswine Plan B: just go to http://www.musicstack.com - there are LOADS of US vendors there of TD stuff! -lineswine Gas bar - it's a common word around here for a gas station, I use it more appropriately for a full-service little place like where I worked. -namor Gas bar - it's a common word around here for a gas station, I use it more appropriately for a full-service little place like where I worked. -namor Yep, I'm feeling like a (l)user.
I thought the members area was for Star members only. Thanks for taking a moment for me. -Bobsentme Hiya LG - yep Frodo and and Bilbo and <Gollum> all the little Hobbitses </gollum>. Come and visit Middle Earth some time. -K1W1 whats ROTFL ?
-postal tech On the gripping hand? All I can think of is something a dirty, lonely geek does. Please explain and tell me I'm wrong. -burrkiss On the gripping hand? All I can think of is something a dirty, lonely geek does. Please explain and tell me I'm wrong. -burrkiss What new Battlestar Galatica movie??? I must know immediately :) -Hellion LG, you mentioned LP's on a post, that means you have a record player that still works? and if so, where do you get needles for it? i really need to know 'cause my mother has some old albums she wants converted to wav's for her cd player. -wolfprince Hey laser,
Whereabouts in VA are you located? I'm in baltimore. -Hellion Hey LG, remind me not to eat any of your sandwiches, especially the pickle loaf! -Tekkie saw the other post on the whiteboard, what new battlestar galactia movie? im a geek -burrkiss $120 for one tire is not unreasonable - depends on the car. My '96 VW Passat takes 205/50R15 tires. They run $130-$175 per and I get to choose between Goodyear and Firestone.... oh joy!! -virtualchoirboy if hellion is in baltimore, I'm in the roanoke area... we need to have a mini TSC party... -Eloewien Aw, LG, I was hoping we could get past that & have a bit of fun again! -Tekkie (laughs) Hehehe.. Yes.. Anime is good. :) -Warrick (laughs) Hehehe.. Yes.. Anime is good. :) -Warrick Do you really not know what NAMBLA is? Some real sickos, that's what.North American Man/Boy Love Association. Basically they are a bunch of paedophiles who wish to both rationalise & legalise what many consider to be some of the sickest pervertions known. Google for their website, the argument they use to rationalise their fantasies & acts do not hold up to close examination. -lineswine re story 22 October 2003 - it is also in Blazing Saddles (I've goot the DVD). Admittedly that is a spoof of ALL western films, but the quote is there - Hedley Lamarr is recruiting bad guys to attack the town & included in the baddies are some "pistoleros" who deliver the line. -lineswine It was in Princeton, NJ, not Patterson. How did you know it was NJ? -letsgoflyers81 I can't remember how we got on the subject of NAMBLA, but I just used it as an example of the sick, sad world we live in - I could have used a white supremacist website, but as the father of an 8 year old boy I believe the freaks at NAMBLA deserve SPECIAL attention (TAC LART anyone?) -lineswine Cylon, someone is going to be watching Battlestar Galactica tongiht!!! -burrkiss I had one of those morons teaching a TRS-80 class. The older version of the system could not properly list a program that had graphics characters in the listing, although it would run fine. A couple of us knew how to put them in pretty easily, it was faster to punch in the graphics data than to program something to draw it. Knowing what it did to the listing we would put the strings at the end and call them as a subroutine. We would always put a comment in there "Do not edit anything beyond this point". Did she ever get the point that touching any line past that point would break the program? No! We told her what we were doing but she kept blaming us when she would try to look at a line with the editor and the program would of course screw up. -Loren Nope. I was a Ground Rat for the USAF. -scooby111 Did you really need to bring up Nothing But Trouble? The shittiness of that movie hurts my pineal gland... -Clavenater "Here's your sign". Forgive me for my ignorance and I submit myself humbly for a LARTing if necessary, but what does that mean? -soccerdude ahh another BAEN fan, reading road to damascus right now. Boy does BAEN find some great authors -knothere "Cry havoc and let slip the ubersquirrel of LARTing!" That's awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D -mousie hey that hurt :( no more banging my head -Bunglehawk069 regarding your comment to my post I would agree toner is so much less hassle then ink.. i've always been curious can you get the same photo quality from a color laserjet that you can on an inkjet?
-kmonson Use a marker and make a dot on your forehead. No, it's not a religious mark, it's a target. -LaserGuru
That is too fucking funny!!! -THETECHFROMHELL I wanna new MOUSE too. Love that song!!! -THETECHFROMHELL Kiss my hairy blue ass! ?????
Funny but I don't see where you are coming from with this one. -THETECHFROMHELL A link would work, but the welcome docs are customized for each client, so we would have to have link for each, plus security. It wasn't worth the hassle, especially when the only person put out was me. Thanks for the suggestion. -Chazdonna hey LG, if you could email me your judges scoring to michael.dixon2@comcast.net, i would apprectiate it.. -duckhead So when you get the "I'm an MCSE, you don't know what you are doing" - "Well, I am Certified to recognize Shit when I hear it!" -satanstech kewl link LG i didnt know there was a website that had acronym listings (though why not theres a website for every other topic in the universe lol) funny thing is it even found LART and identified it correctly -kmonson Hey, thanks for the tip on making images larger in IE. I don't use IE as a rule but it's a cool thing to know! -Tekkie What's wrong with lady's named Lorena? -csatguru Thank you LaserGuru. Y'want I should make you a brownie? :) -snowcrash i'm sending out a card for persephone, what's your mailing address -omegawolf I'm sorry, I was being sarcastic *hits release call* lol -Zentar Play Morrow Project? -TechnoVampire Force-feeding me would be a BAD mistake! :D -Grue no video sorry, but weirder things have been said in our cubicle -rhiannon As a fellow seargant I know that you understand whats going on, and I truly appreciate your response.I know that this probably isn't the best place to post all this, but I guess I just needed to vent or realize. I have done so here before and knew that I wouldn't be judged. I am knew to the whole NCO kick and was shoved into the position. I know that I can handle this, but I am deathly afraid for the rest of my men. It has only just begun to dawn on me that these men are my responsibility. I guess I am just a nervous wreck.I know my chain of command is probably where I should be taking this issue, but I would appreciate any advice or insight that you can give.
-SFStrangler Have you dropped out of the Consellation? If it is time to renew, Hawk will mail you. -lineswine in response to http://techcomedy.com/single/single.php?content_number=33145
I gunna take a wild guess, "who framed roger rabbit" -neuman1812 thanks for the link, wish i'd have know i could have made some money off the stupid dog. he was pretty fun to watch though -rhiannon Okay, seems my memory is a little flakey after all, got in touch with a former co-tech I worked with way back, and asked about those 'Centronics' SCSI cables, he says although they did have the Centronics name moulded into the head, he's pretty sure they were knock-offs from a Chinease Co. called Copartner. Just googled the name & got Copartner Wire and Cable Mfg, who do seem to be in that game. So I stand corrected. -Digital Dogcow I figure if you can't have fun in life why bother?? ^-^ Thanks for the welcome LG! -Gwynnthiere in response to your comments on http://tinyurl.com/56k2f - so I'm not the only one that gets that feeling? :P -Mephiston I'm not a helldesker myself but: AHT seems to mean 'Average Handle Time' the average time you were on a call. Script seems to vary from place to place, some seem to be quite friendly decision matrixes so you can fault find; others are more rigid 'cust said X, do Y' affairs. The Opening and Closing are the speils that everyone says when they get a call and before ending the call, so when you dial a helpdesk and they go "Goodmorning, this is X from Y. How can I help you?" they have to say it exactly that way... usually they are also instructed as to how to say it as well.
It all kind of sucks really. -fearmyroot Thanks for the file association tip - way cool! -hkypipe The difference between muppets and leaders of state: muppets aren't evil. OK, MOST muppets aren't evil. Well, *some* muppets arent' evil . . . um, maybe there isn't a difference. -valkyrja Hey LaserGuru I have a Gmail invite to give out if you want it. -SamFT Hi LG, seen as you have a decent collection of "kraut Rock" i.e. TD & associated musicians etc. I'm wondering...do you by chance have a copy of the Mark Shreeve album "legion"? I'm after the track "Storm Column" (side 1 track 1).
This track was used as the background to the test MPEG1 file Xing installed - the one of a few skydivers exiting a plane. -lineswine Hi LG. I just bought a used HP LaserJet 4 printer and the paper tray doesn't have the vertical inserts that hold the paper against the front spring side of the mechanism. Do you know where I might purchase just these "paper guides" and not the whole tray? Thanks in advance, Sam. -audiomagi <Pulls out older Toshiba laptop> Hmm, the clit is right next to the G-spot. That can't be right. -concept14 Your comment on Tek's story about who gets to drive Humvees sounded strikingly like that ad that's floating around the internet for the Toyota HiLux (NZ pickup). Seen it? :) -Jay911 Dr Pepper not readily available in Canada?? Pretty much every store carries it now, both in regular and diet varities -saneagain Hi LG. Sadly, I've never worked on programmer test stations... -PTSTech Interested in finding it and seeing if you still want to keep it? -TieDyedDinosaur whoa, thats a large butt you got there ;) -Jax Beautiful way to maintain the well rounded backside. -Rabbitt welcome to the constellation -persephone hey whats up in bt, um, i have a braille embosser, called a juliet pro. prints braille on both sides of the page. um no offense dude, but what do you know about embossers? not just anyone asks what kind i have. let me know. -blindtech You mention in Break Room you'll be in Copenhagen sometime in Jan 2006. Do you have time and intrest for a beer? -NordicPT
