Bio: My first email address was a Compuserve address, when it still used a , in it. My first computers were the TI99/4a and the Apple II. I remember how excited I was to be able to dial into a company like IBM to download a driver instead of having to wait to get it in the mail, and how much fun it was to post on those first dial-up BBS's. My first personally-installed network (for work) was NetWare 2 (using floppies!). I have worked in IT through the emergence and growth of companies like Microsoft and Dell. It makes me feel very old, although I am still a very, very long way from retirement.
I consult for a bunch of companies, several of which are small and rely on me to manage pretty much everything -- except end user systems -- from firewalls to bandwidth management to servers (both virtual and physical) to switches and including things like security assessments, bandwidth analysis, network assessments, project planning and implementation, patch management, and the really exciting day to day stuff like performance complaints.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I have about 5,000 new technology books I have to read to try to keep up. :)
