Bio: I used to think that people were sensitive about their money. When it comes to computers, I've seen grown adults act like 10 year olds angry because they're not getting their way. I never had to vent about my customer service job until it involved computers. Of course I have had bad experiences with customers before my job in computers, but they were isolated incidences. I used to cringe everytime a customer walked in the door because they were usually ready to cause a scene. It took everything I had to be able to tell them "no" nicely and in such a way that they behaved reasonably well, and I was good at it. Reguardless of my effort, I have had a cd snapped in my face, threats of vehicles and/or computers being thrown through a store window and other various acts of general hate. One day, it dawned on me. It was taking too much out of me. About a week, one of my customers that I had assisted came to pick up her system. She handed me her business card and told me that if I ever wanted a job that I should call her. I now have a job in a much lower stress environment, I get paid more and I'm so much more appreciated. Goodbye cruel tech world, I now have a life of relatively little cynicism. But I still like to empathize with the tech tales.

Nooooo come work with me! -Feria
Ooooh, I love it when women growl at me! Just kidding, please don't hurt me :) -Hellion
Okay, csatguru.....I think I used to work with you. I distinctly remember a co-worker who used to work for HP who had a CD snapped in her face. So, if you worked at a place that made you think of cows when the CD incident happened, whiteboard me :P -Timmay

Household Gods- Ah! Another Turtledove fan. People think we have problems today. -LaserGuru
About the screen shot of a desktop as background - I did something similar at high school. Took a screen shot of a Win95 desktop, set it as the background on a Win3.1 machine, minimized program manager and put it's icon amongst the icons from the '95 desktop and left it for a while. Teachers wondered who managed to get Win95 on a 386 with 8mb ram and no hard disk (network boot). -pmillipede
Hmmm, I wanna hear some of your music :) -Hellion
Re: http://www.techcomedy.com/single/new_stories.php?content_number=30395 If Zentar DIDN'T mean "women in the family" why do you think she put it? She could have put "members of my family", but she didn't, hence my comment on it. I was defending the point that we are all equal here dammit! <g> -lineswine
^ Completely valid argument. I shall endevour to choose my words better! :D -Zentar
RE: http://www.techcomedy.com/single/new_stories.php?content_number=30395 "I'm so glad that there's another woman in ***my*** family who can help herself!"...This is exactally what she said. How does this encompass all women? And how the hell did Zentar come to agree with you when you suggest that she said something other than what she actually said?! That's the last time I ever try to defend what another persons statement. -csatguru
catsguru, thanks for defending me. I'm a little out of it lately, just lost a grandfather on Monday. I did write the statement with "my family", but I really don't feel like fighting over symantics and interpretation. I appreciate your defence though.. -Zentar
RE: http://www.techcomedy.com/single/new_stories.php?content_number=30395 "I'm so glad that there's another woman in ***my*** family who can help herself!" If it wasn't a gender related statement, why did she bring up the issue of gender in the first place? The differece between "the family" & "My family" in this instance is immaterial. N.B. You may wish to note the my last whiteboard comment was ended with <g>. By this I meant I am <grinning> at you, i.e. it is not meant to be taken seriously....I'm sorry if I did not make this as clear as possible. <grinning>....OK now? -lineswine
Write on my Whiteboard, it will get posted and e-mailed to me.
