Bio: not as old as some of the guys here, but my first real system was a c-64. i worked in a call centre hell for about 4years before having to take a bit of a break. after a few gear-shifts and setbacks i'm now a freelance lighting programmer for home theatres and i'm loving it. better coffee, a never ending supply of diet coke and my cat curled up in my lap - tell me what cubicle has all that?

hey one of my brothers at hp/compaq. raw deal being given out all over. sorry to hear of the situation there I believe we are not far off.
just doing my thing here enjoying the feeling of superiority the customer give me. -TekManhp shoot me a message if you need help with a job. -Doc hey am in for that FLA bbq. Did you hear anything from JoeL ? -LowLevelFormat Dude, try Torani if you liked flavored syrups. They have more than just four flavors. Try the coconut.Hmmm....coconut...ahhhh..... -kman52000 Outweighs you by 100 lbs? Slip him a mickey, or roofies, etc. Nobody's immune to poisening. <G> -scooby111 Where did you do your stage/theatre work? -Kid Hi OW, re: the "no washers on the mainboard. If the supplied standoffs are brass & the screws attaching the mainboard are chromed steel, I am pretty sure at least one screw thread will touch the internal PTH of the mainboard, thereby negating the use of insulating washers. Do you have earther mains power outlets in your part of the world? Here in the UK they have been mandatory for AT LEAST 30 years, both in domestic & commercial electrical installations. (My brother is a qualified sparky). I'm just trying to understand why a PC without insulating washers would give rise to shocks from the case. -lineswine Have you learned anything about the outsourcing rumors at your site? We've had some odd changes lately where I am, and I have to wonder if it'll all make sense too late... -Skylark Hey thanks for the welcome, I actually know a bit more than the normal techs where i am, otherwise i wouldn't be in tier 2 support. just wanted to be vague in my bio in case someone who reads tsc guesses who i am. Its bad enough that i have an idiot for a supervisor right now. :) -CrystalMare Was this lawsuit you mentioned anything to do with some electronic equipment? Whiteboard me. -Gecko hehehehehehehehe... Don't worry, I won't tell Magenta about us if you won't... <eg> I haven't laughed that hard in a while. Thanks again. -RiffRaff Sorry I didn't get to you earlier, I wasn't able to check my hotmail at work that day, and I didn't get it till I was at home (where there's obviously no proxy to hop ;D). if you can get to http://www.tku.ac.jp/~99e1330/cgi-bin/nph-proxy.cgi/111/ there is a big selection there. or you can just google "start using cgi proxy". Now that being said, our IT dept has started to block out the proxy hopping pages. ;) -Bynar OmegaWolf - Handle It Now!
I went thru Harrassment Nightmare at (Big Red). The V.P. of HR was being hit by multiple SexHar. suits. (Big Red) was secretly paying millions in hush money. With their Boss being the worst offender in the place, HR turned postal. They went after any hint like a Combo Rabid Dog, Salem Witch Hunt and Spanish Inquisition. (McCarthy Red Scare?, Nazi JewHunters, Stalins Purges?) We, Men and Women, were afraid to talk even business to each other. The productivity of our group musta dropped 50%. HR still tried to get us to rat on each other - even second hand. "Are you upset that So&S might be upset with So&So? I hermited in my cube - didn't even pass by the CR ladies on the way in and out. The team meetings had no joking, and very little talking. We stopped having Off-Site Team Parties. The Sups would no longer go to lunch with us, in case there was an "incident" off-site that they didn't report. Stop this stuff right now, you do not say those words lightly, and they should not be taken lightly, consider it a BFG 9000 with a hair trigger. Find out exactly what the problem was, and either have the joking stopped or apologize, or whatever and get it straightened out..You might take the attitude that you are worried, and want to find out what was wrong, or that you felt she was joking, but you don't feel it was a joking matter. Just get it calmly, professionally, and amicably worked out. Good Luck [By: satanstech / 2004-03-17 ]

Clarify Some before all those Great Women Techs out there get after me. The CR ladies and the Female Techs were not complaining about us the Male Techs - HR was trying to get the Women to say anything they could use to hit us. "Well, his top shirt button came undone - didn't that make you feel uncomfortable?" kind of stuff. -satanstech -satanstech Geez - even calling yourself a Wolf could be considered actipn by the a Rabid HR Rep. You know how much Dogs hate Wolves. You want to get your office to the point where this issues are discussed openly and professionally. If your HR people were giving the right training, you would know to immediately ask her what the problem was, and her to calmly and politly explain, if shes too embarassed, she tells you she's going to explain it to HR, not "Report a Complaint Against You" Get everything worked out right there (for a 1st problem) - Goes to Sups/HR only after you can't agree. That you and her did not know to do this means that your HR is not doing their jobs, and something will blow up sooner or later.
-satanstech Not many apartments here in Northern RI/southern MA that are 600 that will allow the cat and snakes. Where are you? -taieena Hey, just got your whiteboard message. Damn Spam filter. I know the basic principle behind VoIP, but I've never used it nor have I ever had to support it. If you want to e-mail more specific requirements I'll tell you if I'm in over my head or not. I've relaxed the spam filter settings, but I'll add this addy to my whitelist just in case. Thanks! -RiffRaff -Hellion Ah Ha, caught ya :) -Hellion Hey omegawolf, How far SE are ya? i'm in MD. -Hellion Yo Omegawolf, check your email... -hkypipe Er, I'll need more details before I release that info. email me at queenzentar@yahoo.com Is this like a chain card going around? Just to let you know I think it's a great idea, and very thoughtful of you to take the time to organise it. -Gromit LOL! So glad we're still on speaking terms! signed: George. -BritishBunny Wolfie, I didn't actually tell anyone about your endevour, I simply mentioned their names back to yourself <self LARTs anyway> I suggest you contact me about this via email. -lineswine OK, I think I've figured out what's going on... if you need another Brit, willing to split costs, then I'm happy to help. If this makes no sense, then I've guessed wrong, and just ignore me! -Shaede Yep..i did work there with the cow account. didn't last long...they said that i was not sutible for the company. Oh well. -DerangedHermit oh yea..I live in Tamarac. -DerangedHermit What's the status on the package? -RiffRaff Hey Wolf, havent heard from you in awile, how are things? I been working in TaG man, and sometimes at night when am sleeping, I catch myself reciting that damn in call script, then I have to get up and smack myself and remind me that I AM NOT AT WORK !! hehehe -LowLevelFormat I also work with cows, where are you stationed? -Zayda Update: Eagle landed in Canada today and it's again on it's way around N.A. ... ;) -Zentar Update: Eagle landed in Canada today and it's again on it's way around N.A. ... ;) -Zentar ^ 07/22/04 (helps if I put a date on that)... Sorry to double post! :) -Zentar Hadn't seen anything from you for quite awhile. Just wondering how you are doing and all that stuff. <08/03/04> -Rabbitt So glad to see you back! I had sent an e-mail to the group a couple months ago to see if the cards were still on their way but no-one seemed to have seen them, sorry! They definitely didn't make it to Nebraska. (unless you were just joking with George and never really included me <g>) -BritishBunny hey how's shit going bro. congrads and believe me, i know how beling released feels. damn good doesn't it! man.. good. so, what was the reason for getting caged. if you feel confertable get at me bl1ndt3k@juno.com i know what you feel bro, did that hole shit twice. -blindtech Talk about a fan list...lol! Hope your holiday was a good one! -BlondeGeek Hey omega. Not in s fla, but central plains. I support a small part of the training function for a very big, very old company which used to be a government agency until it went mostly-private in the mid-70s. When I'm not answering our internal helpline, I'm maintaining our earth station or production studios. We have an S-A PowerVu transmit stream feeding a pair of 4.5m dishes. Our suctomers receive us via a Prodelin 1.8m fixed dish, fixed polarity TVRO system. -viennasausage Saint Petersburg -clockkingfl Omega: It's spelled Ourbouros, at least in the copy of Heinlen I've got. :) Of course I haven't read it in a while....sorry if I'm wrong. -halfstarfish Well Omega, it all started innocently enough... One of my habitual sites is drudgereport.com/ A link about HBO airing a show full of the f-word took me to http://thewvsr.com/deadwood.htm/ I was a bit intrigued, wondering what kind of yahoo would track this sort of thing which led me to his home page, http://thewvsr.com/index.htm/ So now my curiosity is peaking. Who is this guy? Conservative crackpot? Liberal pansy? Hillbilly hacker? Urbane witticist? I'm still not sure. But being the curious pecker I am, I clicked around until I landed on The Mountain, http://thewvsr.com/mountain.htm/ A literal mountain of links to some of the oddest websites I've ever seen. I've only just begun to ascend the link mountain and the ACA was one of the first on the list. What this guy's on I'll probably never know, but he's definitely got a "unique" perspective. And I use that term very carefully. -viennasausage Sorry about the stupid comment I made on your 'boss brings 16 yro son to work'post. Your boss sound like a proper wanker. -Bilkor "that leads to tightly focused t/s due to liability issues and oem punts.[iow - get used to it]" Sorry, not sure what T/S or iow means. Can you explain please? -Shane Ahh! That makes a little bit more sence now! :) And thank you! -Shane I'm sorry, is your comment to say you find smoking offensive, or what the company has done? -Bobsentme Hey-
When you became a star" you chose the tshirt option and we are finally getting the shirts out. What is your address and what size do you want? Thanks, Hawk's wife -Hawkswifey Yup, "Existential Blues." http://lyricsplayground.com/alpha/songs/e/existentialblues.shtml
-concept14 re "Existential Blues": Heard it first when T-Bone Stankus played my college in the WayTooLongAgo. Fun tune, and I'm gonna check the link from the previous whiteboard post <grin> -CTYankee Hey, omegawolf, that depends.. I don't exactly mean that in a bad way, but I didn't want it to be too obvious. If it is, I'll remove it. -thebombthewoman Omegawolf- they started a virus scanner and left the room, I went and googled while they were doing that. I guess I'm not sure what you're asking. Maybe a little background would help: I am not a troll. I am not trying to dis tech guys. I was a tech for AOHell before I was terminated for idle. I just thought it was funny that I came up with the solution while everyone was freaking out about a hacker. -My Cat Athena Thank you for your kind words, I interview on thursday for the county temp position, I spoke with the director on the phone, and he said the interview was just a formality, that his staff already thinks the world of me, and wants me on board permanently.
Thanks again! -mwad Wow! Sure that'd be great... Heres my email: renaultguy@shaw.ca Thanks! -renaultguy Soooo.... just drop me a line, and I'll email you the address! -renaultguy Thanks. Sorry I misinterpreted what you were saying. -My Cat Athena Hey O'Wolf. No, I'm not joking. I'm still in ME and I'll keep it until I learn Linux. Well configured and kept, it's been working Ok with seldom crashes. I've done the same install and maintenance to a few friends, and they're still running satisfactory. I 'did' try 2K once; it took me one full week to recover from an incident. But that's a story so dreadful it may be worth a post. -TheGhost Heh. I'm not worried about Burkiss. Though, the freaky part of my nick isn't suggestive in that nature. :) -FreakyFerret Feel it's good to mention, given the choice of wireless cards, I'd steer clear of the novatel v620.. They don't work on the 6k. -illiterate Nice star. Glad to see you keeping that svelt figure. -Rabbitt DUde... I kinda like never checked my TSC for a long time.. I should link my email... hows FL.. I moved back to NY -LowLevelFormat
