Vcuum Tubes are great! I just finished my cheap-a$$ one-tube amp, using a 25EH5 from an old record player, using my tube-FM tuner, sitting on top of my Hammarlund HQ140x, along with my test bench full of tube gear... I always get strange looks from the electronics techs 'cause I'm only 17... But tubes can be more fun. My 'lil regenerative set picks as many stations as most superhets out here! Have any tips for someone who needs to build some test equipment? Although it'd be cmos/ttl, I need to build a frequency counter... -renaultguy

Good news! I've recently been lucky enough to accquire a WWII ARC-5 command set receiver in mint condition! And, this Saturday I'm going to pick up my very first real Ham transmitter. Now, I just need my licence... Oh well, I've got my eye on a callsign. Perhaps someday I'll show up as VE7YJA! -renaultguy

Those tough PA tubes can handle everything you threw at them and more! My father remebers running them red hot on CW... and they still wouldn't die! We have an NOS RCA Radiotron 807 mounted in a wood base for display.. just as a tribute to fine engineering. -renaultguy

I have always wondered whether it would be possible to make a sort of 'integrated circuit' vacuum tube. Basically a flat pan with multiple small tube arrangements with the pins through the bottom and a hermetically sealed lid on top. Push the whole mess into a set of inline contacts (ZIF?) and put a little fan on top. -TieDyedDinosaur

I don't really work with tubes, but one of my oscilloscopes is an old Bell & Howell that puts off a beautifull glow. I don't think I'll ever have the heart to part with it. -Voltage
